I just made a masonry bit into a spade bit and I was able to drill out a broken 10-24 tap. Thanks for sharing the info!

Pretty cool! I suck at removing taps and bolts. This actually will make it easier. Thanks

This works because of the carbide tip. An old carbide endmill works good too.
@shopandmath4 жыл бұрын
yes
@jeffanderson16533 жыл бұрын
I bet you would normally weld a nut to that tip that was left. If it's broken deep down with nothing sticking up. Yeah, your way worked. Never used a spade carbide to do this job. Left handed drill bits are my favorite but not for a broken tap!! Well done man. Yes I'm subscribed and liked

I never explain this in the beginning of the video I have access to all of the fancy equipment to fix almost any problem A friend of mine said I need to make videos where I don’t have any equipment at all so that the Home guy can do some of the things that I’m doing with expensive machinery That’s why I didn’t use the CNC to drill the Hole and that’s also why am using a re-sharpened concrete drill Thank you for watching and subscribing Ray

Usually you weld to a tap and they shatter as soon as you touch them. Sometimes you can do it with a tig welder but usually still doesn’t work
@johnstone9396 Жыл бұрын
@@kylebrown8891 correct, almost impossible to weld to a tap, especially in a hard- to- reach spot on an engine block still in the vehicle, don't ask me how I know.

yes this might be what you need to do if you snap a real quality tap in there... however any good 135d cobalt drill bit would work just fine if it was Chinesium taps.

There are never perfect conditions like this where u can use drill press Most of the time its in awkward places where you can't get. Show me video like this and I'll be impressed.

Be prepared to be impressed I made that video about a year ago it needs some tweaking and better explanation kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoqnoamqabSZorc

Hi I do not understand the question Ray
@vulgar55954 жыл бұрын
Why did you go with 3100RPM at first then slow down? what was the second RPM? Good post, the second plate used as a Jig is tits!
@shopandmath4 жыл бұрын
Mark Stark I’m not exactly sure what the second RPM was I slowed it down because the tool bit was not biting enough Without the second plate it would be extremely difficult to do proper location because the hard tap would make the drill deflect into softer material Thanks for the comments Ray

Fact: {A} A "center drill" is "only" used to drill a hole in bar stock being held in place by the "Lathe Tailstock". If a "center drill" breaks that section is scrap. It Can be Do you have the hole positions for the other cylinder bolts? I have Done this on motorcycle cylinders I used a 1 inch thick guide plate Drilled out the studs, and then used a helacoil
