Thanks for this excellent video, David! As a semi-professional photographer I have this problem with my multitude of photos. (I’m not admitting my inadequacies publicly by telling you how I got into this predicament.) I’ve researched numerous of these programs/apps and have never felt completely confident that using them wouldn’t destroy my library and that I wouldn’t delete photos I actually needed to keep. I love your videos, you are delightful! I've frequented your channel quite a bit as I am a new Mac user, from Windows. I thought it would be just like my iPad, its not! Im also taking a photography class on my Mac, this has caused many brain explosions. I found this photography guy, Tim Shields, from an add on Tech Talk. I looked at all my 100.000 photos, a lot of them are stinkers. I did order the program and am running it. I deleted 8005 duplicates. For some reason when I downloaded photos from my iPhone it downloaded everything each time even when I instructed it to only take the most recent. Thank you for the tips on this class.

Hi David, firstly your videos are first class and I always look for help and advice before embarking on any new 'venture'. Regarding your video on 'How to remove Duplicate Photos', I have purchased 'PowerPhotos' and followed your video advice. I run Catalina on my Imac and have my photos album on both the Imac and on an external HD. After running PowerPhotos it looked as though it wanted to delete all my photos from one or the other. I am a little confused, however, your advice would be welcomed.

Do you recommend using the MAC Photos App as I have not. I use a folder because I thought that using the Mac App there could be a problem later if Apple decides to change their app like the did a few years ago. Professional photographers do not use this app. What is your opinion?

I am wondering how to get my uncompressed pictures out of iCloud and into an external hard drive so I can add more photos to my MacBook to further use your organization video. I am about out of room on the MacBook 🤦🏻. I cannot see a way to move an entire album. Your videos are amazing.

PLEASE ADD A VIDEO: Discussing how to consolidate photos on your mac. My first step before organizing my photos via this excellent method (and your other video on "How to Organize Your Photos" is to FIND THE PHOTOS THAT ARE SPREAD ALL OVER & GET THEM IN ONE PLACE. I find that when I use a Smart Folder, e.g., my photo folder includes album artwork from iTunes, little graphics from other programs, etc. Also, if I move all of those photos from the Smart Folder, they abandon their original location...so you have to copy them, which seems to create more chaos. If I can get them all in Photos without having thousands of little graphics and iTunes album covers, I could sort them without going insane (again, using your wonderful videos here and one "How to Organize your Photos," which is really excellent. (If you have a quick tip on this, please write me back as I'm doing it now.)

Otherwise, I think you've got the best advice on organizing photos anywhere. You might also add a video on: HOW TO EXPORT PHOTOS FROM PHOTOS INTO NEATLY ORGANIZED LIBRARIES, because the Photos app eats them and puts them into these mysterious disorganized photos, whereas it would be great to have copies of the originals sorted in the way they're sorted in Photos Albums. If you add these two problems, I think your Photo tutorial would win the internet!

I am a newer Mac user, having used PC for many years in my business. I am organizing my photos, and have now watched 3 videos: How to clean your Mac; PowerPhotos; and one a couple months ago on using Favorites to organize albums. I don't know what to do first. I purchased PowerPhotos, but what should be my first step. Also, I almost bought ThePhotoStick which was advertised on your website. But am nervous it might screw up my Smart Albums. Should I go ahead with that purchase too? I have photos everywhere on my computer, not just in the iPhoto library. And no, I have not backed up my MAC...
