I personally I would stick with a stock spindle. It has a good balance between acceleration & speed. Most aftermarket spindles are larger and will make the GoPed Sport go faster but they also take away from the acceleration and hill climbing ability. If you insist on a larger spindle then call a dealer that sells aftermarket spindles and ask what they would recommend for your engine, if they know what their doing then they will be asking you a few questions and can tell you what you can expect.

@tjobrienRC Yes, a third bearing support is an aftermarket part that is not made by GoPed. This means that you will need to replace the spindle with one designed by the manufacture of your third bearing support to insure it fits properly. Alternatively, you can remove the third bearing support and go back to the stock original spindle. The larger the spindle the faster you go but the slower you will accurate, put to big of a spindle on and your engine will not have the power to get to speed.

You have a Liquimatic. The drive on yours does attach to the engine's crankshaft just like in this video but transfers power through a fluid pump. So the main bolt is found under the fill drain cap/plug (it's the part that has a bearing that the stud on the flat plate behind the gas tank plugs into). Then to remove after you get the bolt out you will need to hit/knock the inner shaft that is connected to the crank shaft. It looks like a little ring at the very end near motor.

@nhanimov1 its the repeated shock/vibration on the spindle by the hammer that allow it to come off. This hammering can take a while so keep at it and in a few minutes it will come off. No need to oil it as that does little more then make a mess.

@frenchvalleyairport I have the impression your engine is working fine so I would not worry to much about the engine seals unless of course you're experiencing something that may lead you to believe you need new main seals.

@xZeusAlmightyx I think your exhaust tube from the frame is bent over against the wingnut and needs to be bent back. When you bend it back make sure the tube on the frame is lined up with the tube on the muffler.

@FrenchValleyAirport Not all that often, I would say depending on the care of the engine 200 to 400 hours of operation but I have seen many go much longer then that. When the main seals start going bad starting get hard or imposable, idle RPM starts fluctuating on its own leading many to believe the carburetor jetting is off, or the engine may end up seizing because the added air that leaks in through the seal is preventing the engine from getting the lubrication it needs.

thanks for the tip that was a quick response. i realized that the new spindell i ordered was suposed to be used with a special third bearing support so it wont work anyway. but when i put the next one on i will definitly do that. heres a more tricky question. i want to make the motor adjustment hydrolic instead of a bolt so i can engage the spinell using something on the handle bars any ideas on where i can find the things i need to get it done?

@enriqueg96 put your sport/ped on its centre stand. loosen quick release. set epw all way down . put about 75lbs of pressure on deck at rear fender. tire will touch spindle hard. ( wiht pressure) while applying that pressure, move EPW into position on tank bolt. then tighten quick release. youre good to go

Great video I just bought a Go Ped yesterday and need to replace the drive spindle. What size spindle do I need to buy? I think it's a Red California model. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

@MrJoshnsara There is a couple ways to Do it. Hold on to the flywheel and keep it from turning, or stick something like the end of a toothbrush where the sparkplug goes to keep the piston from moving. I use an impact air tool.

The taper of the spindle and crankshaft are designed to keep a tight hold on one and another so they are all "Stuck on there" like you say. Keep "knocking" with the hammer like in the video, rotate the spindle so you can "knock" on the other side, and repeat this until the spindle can be pulled off. Some times it can take several minutes of this "knocking" action to get it to come off. Just make sure your following the directions in the video.

@SizeMatterss1 You may need a new wheel if it is worn past its usable life. However, the rear wheel is adjustable so it can be adjusted as the wheel wears. I suggest you read the Operator's Manual for your Go-Ped it is filled with stuff you should know and understand. Also see the video on how to adjust the rear wheel of a direct drive model.

@nhanimov1 You need to do it and follow what it says in the video. Be sure to use the hammer rotate the spindle to hit on the other side and repeat until it comes off. It just takes time and will not come right off.

@SeanTuckerBrett The drive spindle bolt screws into engine's crankshaft. Find the engine on the Go-Ped website and click on the parts button for it to get to a complete engine parts list. but first try an center punch to hammer out the broken screw part that stuck. I hads that happen a few times and was able to get the screw out of the crankshaft so it was still usable.

yes but i really have to push the tire to fit the axle through is that still ok. i just push it with my hands so i don't know if i am putting more than 75 pounds of pressure.

The stock one works very well for a balanced top speed and acceleration/hill climbing.

The torque converter comes of in the same way. The bolt that hold the converter on is hidden behind the fill/drain plug that is on the end where the cooling fins are. Once the bolt is off you will still need to get the converter’s main shaft of the crank shaft. Do this by using the same hammer technique but only hit the main shaft and not the body of the converter. The main shaft pokes out the end closest to the engine and looks like a ring that does not spin with the body of the converter.

i have 2 more problems though, i bought a .750 spindle and my new tire fits really tight should i sand it down with sand paper or what is your solution, and my crankshaft is minorly bent it shimmies like 1 or 2 milimeters is that really bad i mean i have use lots of motors such as lawnmowers the have been way more bent what's your thought about that one because i really don't want to waste money on a new crank shaft

For the Liquimatic, remove the gas tank and then the main plug on the end with the cooling fins to get to the bolt found under the plug. Remove that bolt and then with the hammer you will see a metal ring at the end of the Liquimaitic drive down on the engine side that you "knock" on but don't "knock" on the aluminum shaft. Some times you need to knock a few times rotate the spindle and knock some more and continue until the drive spindle drops off the end of the crankshaft.

The trick is to follow the text instruction in the video. You do not want to hit it very hard or you risk breaking the crankshaft. You also need to knock/hit the side of the spindle with the hammer down on the end that is closer to the engine only. It's the shock vibration that you create with the hammer that shakes the spindle loose. It may take a few minutes of "knocking" with the hammer but it will come off eventually.

I forget off the top of my head what stock is. I think its .625 but maybe .675 You can order a factory stock by finding the Sport model on the GoPed website and clicking on the parts button next to it. That will take you to a complete replacement parts list with an exploded drawing to help you find the part.

The snail shaped washer goes first on the axle then slide the axle through the axle slot on the frame from the gas tank side, a washer on each side of the wheel, axle through other axle slot in the frame, then washer, and finally the wing-nut.

Oh, I understand now. Your Sport has one of the many aftermarket 3rd bearing supports. Its not original equipment but will pull straight off. I am going to guess at it but I think your 3rd bearing is seized into the bearing (the bearing is in the plate) so your going to have to force it off but just be careful because the spindle is connected to the crankshaft and to much force can break it.

The stock Sport drive spindle has a special coating so it will not slip when wet when proper adjustment is done. Most aftermarket spindles lack this coating and will slip when that get wet. Nevertheless, In any case riding a powered scooter in the rain is not a good idea to begin with because traction is minimized and braking distant is dramatically increased in wet conditions.

@thepinkneenja It all depends on a lot of things, but start with a fresh spark plug, clean air filter, fresh and properly mixed fuel and then see if that improves things.

The spindle will fall off or possibly brake the spindle bolt inside the crankshaft if you do not get it on tight enough. It helps if you can prevent the crankshaft from turning as you tighten the drive spindle bolt down. I use vice grip pliers to hold onto the crankshaft as i tighten the drive spindle as shown in the video.

75 pound of pressure is quite a bit and you should be OK with using a fresh new wheel. New wheels will do an initial "scrub-in" that's basically rubbing off the tooling mold release skin on the tire and in that process will get slightly smaller.

A 3rd bearing is an aftermarket part that is not a factory standard part on the Sport. I only focus on stock maintenance because there are several different manufactures for aftermarket parts and each one is slightly different. You should have gotten installation instructions for the part or call the people you got it from for help if you need it.

I a bent crank would not help, but I think it bogs because it is geared way to tall from the larger spindle.

bamf64, there is only one bolt in the metal plate but that bolt only hold a stud that goes into a bearing found in the plug for the liquimatic's fluid drive that stud is pressed into the bearing and will come straight out. but if your changing the liquimatic to the Sport's drive spindle then just undo the screw holding the stud and leave it in the plug. You will be removing that plug next to get to the main bolt and where you can start using the video to help remove it from there.

Its not to hard but the trick is pulling the flywheel off so the cases can come apart. Watch the video I made on replacing the cyclinder and pistion because some of these steps are needed to get to the bottom half of the engine. Note: you do not need to remove the pistion or pistion rings.

You need a 10m deep socket for the gas tank, a 6m allen wrench for the drive spinde bolt, large Vise-Grip pliers,and a small hammer.

That metal plate is only found and needed on Liquimatic models that still have the original fluid drive/torque converter. If you have a Liquimatic model that has been changed to the Sport model's "drive spindle" you then no longer need that plate.

The GSR25 uses a chain and clutch drive and is not a direct drive or use a drive spindle. That you would need to do is change the rear sprocket and get a new chain size to match.

so i know this vid was years ago but oh well hopefully u will get it. iv adjusted my tyre many times. and its still not working. the tyres are brand new. so when i take off the back wheel the spindle turns just fine. but as soon as i put it back on nada. the typrs has full contact and does not spin. should also mention that it is a Liquimatic. All stock with exception thay i replaced tyres, fuel lines and prime bulb. please help

I don't think I follow, but if you are referring the head of the drive spindle bolt snapping off and making it difficult to remove, then I would simply try the "Knocking" action as shown in this video and see if the spindle will loose its grip on the crankshaft taper and come off with the rest of the bolt still in place. You may need to take a little more time at the "Knocking" but I see no reason why it would not work. With the spindle removed the rest of the bolt should come out easy.

Just do not grip the spindle with the pliers where the spindle is gritted/textured because you can strip that stuff off if you let the pliers slip. So, you will need to grip the spindle on ether end.

@MrJoshnsara the spindle for the third bearing support will work with out the third bearing but it will be a little long and not quite as strong with out the outer bearing. I am not a big fan of the third bearing as they always create more trouble then they are worth. Just make sure you do a rear tire adjustment properly and your find with staying stock. No clue on where to start with a hydraulic adjustment system. I believe it will be more trouble then it is worth, much like the 3rd bearing

There is not really any repair manual. Luck thing is that GoPed and the engine they use are fairly simple and straight forward so there are really no surprises. The exploded drawings you can find at goped.com are helpful though. So find the part list for the GZ25N engine as that will be helpful to take a look at. As for tools you just need a basic set of common american and metric tools to do any service on a Go-Ped.

I can't say this method is the easiest way, just hitting the spindle with a hammer. In pretty much all cases it's not that easy to remove What I do is after loosening the bolt is tighten it until it stops, back off about a thread. Then I hold the scooter by the spindle (do not lay on a flat surface, the key is to support in air) and tap my allen wrench or allen socket with a hammer a couple times, checking with each hit that the screw hasn't backed out our tightened up. Works every time.

I believe that the .75 spindle you installed is to big and reason why your bogging. switch back to stock or go smaller in size.

Don't sand the tire down. After your first ride it will be fine. Bent Crankshafts are never any good but if your engine still runs then I would leave it alone. It may end up eventual failing over time but I would replace it then. I have seen engines even continue to run for a number of hours with a cracked crankshaft.
