I think these images represent the vast majority of images. Professionals would have eliminated a lot of the existing issues to minimize post editing. The real benefit of AI is making normal photographers better. It makes you want to take more pictures instead of throwing the camera in the closet . I continue to love your masking techniques. Your thought process is very helpful. On this particular image I wanted you to push some color and contrast into the shadows highlights and midtones with the color harmony tool. Thanks again for all your efforts 💪🏻

I fly drones and I have a lot of pictures that I would love to work on. Editing them always seemed like such a challenge. A recent drone channel I follow pointed me to LuminarAI and I was blown away. So I started looking for tutorials and I found your channel.(which I subbed to instantly). I will be purchasing LuminarAI and watching your vids to learn. The one question I have is. How well does the app work when you are working with say a screen grab from a video?
@rg-web-design3 жыл бұрын
Great Luminar tutorials, thank you so much. Good tips on politeness at the start too! Luminar is a great tool, and the level of creativity is extremely high. I think this is a subjective area. By far the most images looked at now are via a screen of some sort. Screens vary quite a lot, depending on numerous factors such as size, brightness, blue-light reduction, etc. What is created in the creator's eyes may not be what the audience sees.

@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen. Probably just a difference in the naming. There are a few minor differences in layout between Mac and PC but overall they're ultimately the same. The clone tool should work the same.

Anthony, love your tutorials on Luminar 4, and I love the program Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I'm 75 yrs and learning, Watching your video on removing objects and people. @IansWorldTravels3 жыл бұрын
Very useful - many small tips that will make a difference. I will also consider using Clone and Stamp for small changes instead of Erase - the latter is painfully slow to apply the changes on my PC and it may be quicker to use Clone and Stamp!

Thanks Anthony, very interesting how you use the local masks, very helpful, still ooking foreward for a video where you edit an architectural night shot, would be nice to see. One questin: You did not sharpen teh picture in the details tool, just because the enhance tool?
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Volker. Well spotted about the lack of sharpening. I simply forgot to do it on this one. Probably sharpening to around 50% would have been just the ticket :) Yes, a night shot edit of architecture is on the list.... :)
@swoopix-hovernh3 жыл бұрын
Both technique & explanation fantastic... But as you alluded, so much editing/"painting" in sort of "overdid things" at the end. (Visible mask edges/lines draw attention from the photo.) Maybe not "noticeable" if you didn't watch the editing process, but now that all I see when looking at the export. ~ Hoping Luminar adds 360 pano editing support SOON! So envious of it's capabilities, but without 360 support it's not a suitable tool for core skillset I'm working on. Are you familiar with Skylum's Air-Magic AI?.... "Air-Magic" is/was Skylum's starter AI tool geared to aerial/drone photography. Recently, marketing of "Air-Magic" has all but disappeared & I can't find additional styles. (presets) Possibly there is a way to convert & import Luminar AI presets into .astyle file formats? (file format used by Air-Magic)
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Great feedback. Cheers. Yes, I agree that sometimes the local masking can be too visible. One problem I have is multitasking in performing an edit I'm happy with at the same time as talking and recording the video. I usually overbake things a little and don't spend the time I usually would refining masks and fading things back if I've over done them, just in the name of keeping the video moving along. I think also sometimes seeing the before, can work against us as our visual acuity is always in comparison mode. Without the before I think more editing would slip by unnoticed. With regards to air-magic. No clue about that I'm afraid. It's not a tool I've used.

Incredible edit! You really did magic with this composition, fantastic demo. SUBSCRIBED! Do you think you can use Luminar to make up for the difference of 25 megapixels EG canon R5 vs canon R6?
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob. Thanks for your comment. To be honest, unless you're wanting to kick out large format prints of your photos, the R5 sensor would more than suffice for most uses. As an aside, Luminar's sharpening (which I forgot to cover in this video) is exceptional and can really help lower-res files and those shot with slightly softer lenses.
@KayakCampingOffGrid3 жыл бұрын
I went ahead and ordered the 20 Megapixel Canon R6. I print to A2, have the Pro 1000 printer. I do intend to do 1.2 Metre long Panorama prints, and those would comprise multiple images stitched together. Re that... do you think Luminar would ever release an update with PANO function? I asked them, they replied saying NO! I wonder why! What do you think about PANO and Luminar? Also do you recommend a PANO App other than Adobe?
@billstorm5803 жыл бұрын
Very nice work. I noticed that the Local Masking relies specifically on the reuse of the Basics panel.You used it masterfully. My interest is knowing what can also be done if you wish to take advantage of the other adjustments modules to create any number of brushes (masks) that may be applied with independent settings from each other. Can that be done or is once you create a brush mask do any new changes to the original mask in turn impact that first mask?

Hi Anthony! Superb videos! Sometimes when im working with Luminar i find that some edit tools are faded and not possible to select....what am i doing wrong?

@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, send it through to anthonyeditsyourphotos@gmail.com and I'll try and carve some time to take a look at it for you. It's very possible it comes down to print management settings being out of whack. Print management is a HUGE topic all in itself and is exceptionally hard to get it right. Perhaps try sending it to an online print service, choose a small 6x4 or something inexpensive so your cost is minimal, and just see how it comes back. Oh, also is your monitor properly calibrated?
