You are a life saver man. Over two days i couldnt get the bolt to catch the threads. I thought it was the aftermarket connector. So I went to the dealer to pick an OEM one just to run into the same issue. Your trick with taking off the little release cap off the connector did the trick for me. By the way I watched every video on this and no one mentioned this. So thank you sir!

Very detailed and easy to follow along. Had a time with removing and then installing this part but with you helpful tips, made the job a breeze. Thank you so much!

This video is still helping people, because it's saved my bacon twice this year!!( 2024) Thanks for sharing. That pesky adaptor plug has caused me so many problems. Luckily I've not fallen foul of replacing lots of expensive control modules (so far) only to find the problem is (still being) caused by a crappy adaptor plug.

Really glad to hear. I've noticed those adapter plugs don't last long, and it appears to be common that they have to be regularly replaced every few years or so. Bad engineering design. Again...glad your still using this video many years later to help!!!

I'll let you know when I do that. But it'll probably be months from now hopefully.

Exactly what I needed to see, attemtped this in the driveway on ramps got everything back together right and could not for the life of me get the plug seated enough to tighten the screw, trying again tomorrow

Glad you enjoyed the details and how to reseat the plug. Did you finish your project?
@connergraham934 Жыл бұрын
@FixCarYourself All back together, fortunately speed sensor 2 is reading, however the 1-2 clutch pack got pretty beat up limping it everywhere for too long so it's a pretty hard shift if you don't baby it at the low speeds, might try adding some friction modifier but unsure about the longevity of those products

Only had one O ring when i pulled it out, so going back under today after work, i stuck my finger in but only felt the prongs, today ill put a pick in and try pull it out, if its in there hopefuly didnt wick fluid up to my module
@FixCarYourself4 ай бұрын
Their might be 2 orings in there. Any luck?
@fleuryelite21704 ай бұрын
@FixCarYourself I found the 2nd one in the drain pan, did the connector, then I snapped the screw in the conductor plate, had to drop it again and change the plate, now she's running beautiful

What happens if the tab on the POS original connector breaks off? The original connector is in such bad shape its actively leaking transmission fluid everywhere too
@FixCarYourself10 ай бұрын
The tab is just for grip. If no tab, then you can still get it but you'll have less grip to turn it.
@benjamincole471610 ай бұрын
@FixCarYourself I was commenting from a point of frustration, a slip joint pliers was able to grab on and remove that connector no problem. It helps to have the right tools at the right time
@FixCarYourself10 ай бұрын
Nice idea using the pliers, especially when their is no grip. I'll have to try that as well another time.

When you take that adapter off thats screwed in, is it supposed to pour liters out of that hole or just little pour out?
@FixCarYourself4 ай бұрын
Just a little if any at all. Not liters more like and ounce or so.
@fleuryelite21704 ай бұрын
@FixCarYourself man like most of my pan drained from the connector hole, must've been something wrong on the plate or not sealing, im talking about the actually adapter coming out, with the 2 o rings, a little oil with just connector, the 2 or 3 litres with adapter removed, then another 2 litres when I dropped the pan, of course my drain plug was stripped too
@terrenceg32574 ай бұрын
I’m having trouble getting the plug out. The little bolt must be stripped on the other side. Any ideas of how to get it out? I don’t mind damaging the conductor plate, because I’m changing it. Help please!!
@FixCarYourself4 ай бұрын
Did you get it out yet? Try a few taps, remove the screw nut inside (it will just keep spinning) Possibly use a flat head to carefully wedge it out.
@terrenceg32574 ай бұрын
Yes. I got it out. The problem was that the nut on the conductor plate side was spinning. I removed all 10 screws that held the valve body and just tore it away from the transmission. The conductor plate broke and exposed the nut that was holding the screw. I held the back side of the nut with side cutters to stop it from spinning and the 7 mm screw came out. All done now. Trany works great now! Thanks!

Hello i have a question? man i accidentally broke that little screw that tighten the plug to the transmission, but the head of the bold is sticken out, i tried some grip plies didnt work, do you know any other ways i can get that little bolt out, i have a mercedes it use the same type of plug, thanks for your help, im tying to do it myself because i know the dealer is going charge a lot of money to fix it.
@FixCarYourself6 ай бұрын
Just trying to clarify but does that little bolt spin. Because it doesn't come out fully. I believe it should just spin.
@worldwidesports4k6 ай бұрын
@@FixCarYourself no it won't spin, I can barely get some vise crips to lock on the little broken bolt. Just a little is sticking out a few inches, it's making it leak transmission fluid. I thought about putting some glue around the rubber seal what do you think.
@FixCarYourself6 ай бұрын
So I actually made another video on this but still need to edit it before posting it. That video shows why putting glue on the rubber seal will not work. I actually tested that theory, and NO glue of any sorts will work. I will post that video eventually once I polish it up. But anyway did you put a deep socket on it and use a ratchet wrench? Also spraying some penetrating oil on it or sticking a soaked piece of cloth with penetrating oil on it (let it set in for a few hours or day) may help and eventually get it to budge.

@@FixCarYourself ok thank you sir I'll let you know how it turn out.

When you buy the plug adapter it comes with 2 orings.

Use a socket larger than 7mm with an extension and push the plug in.
