Funny story about that. It was said that during the 5th century BC one of the Chinese warring states was trying to conquer its weaker neighbouring state, and to test the other ruler’s ability the ruler of the stronger state sent his opponent a complex puzzle of strings, wires, and hoops, and told the other ruler “if you can figure this out without help from your advisors within 1 day I’ll delay the attack by 1 year so you can prepare”. When the puzzle was presented to the weaker state’s ruler, he lost hope because just looking at the puzzle is making him feel faint, there’s no way he can solve it in one day, probably not even in one year, but if he doesn’t have 1 year to prepare his powerful neighbour’s army will crush him. While he’s there yanking out his hair in frustration, his mother, the queen dowager, took the ruler’s sword and cut the puzzle in two, pronouncing that the rules didn’t say she can’t do that. When the emissary reported this back to the more powerful state’s ruler, he decided to call off the attack entirely, because with such an determined and convicted mother, there was no way the weaker state’s ruler can be cowed into submission, and a pyrrhic victory won’t do him any good. Sure enough, when the attack didn’t come, the weaker state’s ruler relaxed and completely let down his guard, ignoring his mother’s advices and spent his days drinking and gaming. When his mother died, the stronger state again sent an envoy, telling the ruler of the weaker state “surrender now and I won’t kill you when I conquer your state, you have 3 years to decide”. Without his mother’s encouragement, the weak-willed leader surrendered after only one month, and thus the stronger state conquered the weaker, yet still mighty neighbour, without needing to spill a single drop of blood.

Oo! I got one that looks a little like that, my mom once gave it to me on the car because we went for a 3 hours ride, I solved the puzzle with times without knowing it so I kept asking my mom to put it back, then I finally understood how to solve it 😂, in the end my mom still found me annoying because I solved it in 30 minutes! Funny memory, I'll never forget it 😂

Actually, I find it to be one of the easiest to picture with your mind's eye. Other puzzles often require you to keep in mind both shapes and dimensions of parts, which tests your stereometrical thinking. For this one, it's enough to just keep track of which part would squeeze through which part, which is yes or no question, and there are only four distinct parts. The shapes themselves don't matter at all.
