which auto trans came with the 22re 4x4 ?

I've only ever had one auto truck and it was this 2wd. I'm not sure which auto the 4wd 22re had. It may be different depending on the year of your truck as well, 22re was used up to 1995.

The cable that goes from the throttle assembly to the transmission on my 85 is locked down. I’ve tried disconnecting and lubricating to no avail. What is it connected to inside the transmission and what should I expect to get into removing and replacing it. The truck has been stationary for years and won’t go past 2 nd gear. Thanks

I wish I knew, but that was the only auto trans I've ever had in a toyota pickup and I sold it after I removed it in that video. I never took it apart any further or did any other work on it.

6th Gear Garage from what I’m finding out , that cable ties to the valve body and requires pan removal, filter removal and cable disconnect from the 2 Nd valve body. It’ll be a week or two before I get to do this so I’ll let you know when I do it.

What is the spacer plate between the engine and transmission?

I think it's called Block Intermediate Plate and it's on auto transmission engines

The 79’ was a manual and that could be causing the problem.

I have a 1986 toyota pickup 22rte automatic. Wanting to do a a 5 speed manual. Will there be any problems I would run into doing so?

Sleek S I don't have experience with the 22rte. I've heard the w56 trans bolts up but there's a slightly larger flywheel/clutch that should be used. Also I'd guess you would need the correct crossmember for the w56 trans. Might want to measure driveshafts as well to be sure they're all the same length going from the r151 to w56.

Hey this may be a stupid question but when you say the one ton pickup, do you mean the t-100 or the pickup/hilux? I have a engine/transmission swap coming up and the body is off of the donor truck (91 pickup) and the patient (89 pickup), so I’m hoping this will be a good guide for me.

Hey, this was a 1-ton 86 pickup/hilux. It's nearly identical to the standard 2wd pickup/hilux, but it has the stronger 8" rear axle similar to the 4wd pickups and heavy duty suspension. The engine/transmission were the same as the standard 2wd pickups. This one was actually an early 22R block/head that the previous owner put in the truck and kept the 22RE efi intake & electronics. The 1985 and up "Laser block" 22R/RE's have a more square front valve cover.

6th Gear Garage Thanks! I’m working with a manual, four-wheel-drive, so it looks like it will be a little bit different, but the engine lift portion should be the same, and my body is off as well. Did you hook the front left corner and the rear right corner of the leveler to anything or just the chain hooks diagonal to each other.

They should already be bolted on the head of the engine. If not, look for some used ones.

Isn't that a 22r not a 22re?

It's a mutt. It was originally a 22re and I'm guessing it threw a rod or something at some point because the previous owner put an early 22r block/head in it with the 22re fuel injection/electronics. So it's kind of both now.
