After trying several things- from a metal skewer from the kitchen, to safety pins of varying sizes, your video here of the thumbtack worked perfectly! A screwdriver handle is the perfect "hammer" for this as well. Thanks for saving me a trip to the jeweler up town and having to pay for a 30 second procedure!

Came back to this video because someone asked me about some of my watches. I used this video to remove links because my jeweler forgot to apparently. (Not a flex) but I used this method on a Rolex that I spent well over 18k for, so I was incredibly skeptical. You sir saved me the hassle of being overcharged to remove links. My jeweler was asking for 250 to remove literally 2 links on each side and this only took me 5 minutes to do. Thank you my friend!

Wonderful idea using items easily found around the house. I was so upset that the jeweler’s I took my watches to get resized did not take out the proper amount of links and made me come back twice because jeweler went to lunch. Wasted an extra hour of my time. They said I could bring my watches back to be resized again for a nominal fee. Forget that! So happy I found your video. Managed to resize for better fit with the instructions on the micro sizing in clasp closure. Thank you so much!🙏

Unbend a small paperclip and grip it with pliers. Use the tip of the paperclip to simply push the pins out of their links. This works much better for removing the pins. You can also use the paperclip to recess the pins when reinserting. Cheers

I'm very thankful for this. I only watched halfway but successfully removed three links, and my new watch fits perfectly. I held the band between two slightly elevated surfaces with space below to allow the pin to poke out as I tapped, and once it was begun, it came easily. Thank you 😊

Great video! 🎉 Thanks so much! I came up with couple of tips that made it work better for me. I cut the tip of the push pin off with a small wire cutter to give it a more solid, flat pushing surface. I pulled the link wire out with a pair of pliers. I enrolled my wife to do the pounding with the screw driver head while I held the push pin and band in place. It only had to come out a millimeter or two before I was able to pull it out with the pliers.

Great, worked for me on a Storm watch and saved a visit to the jewellers (and cost). Getting the pin size is the key but these are standard cork board tacks you can get from any stationers (in my case I already had such a board up in the kitchen). The tip about supporting the trap with you fingers is a good one. I found that two of the pins came out easily enough, the third was a little tight and needed more force. Also I placed my watch strap over a hole drilled into 10 business cards taped together. This gave the pin somewhere to go with a relatively soft surface for the strap to sit on.

It works perfectly. I just fixed one of 2 watches I got from Walmart that I bought until I can afford a nicer watch. The first one’s clasp fell loose (2 flat strips of metal with a notch and a tiny pin) and I can’t figure out how to fix it. I started with the other watch and got it in 2 minutes. Make sure you guys take a link off each end so it’s not uneven. Brilliantly done and thanks again! 🤘🏻❤️‍🔥

What’s funny is that I searched this for the first time to adjust a watch of mine on my own (I’ve had multiple adjustments made to 9-10 other watches and paid 15$ every time) and the watch you’re using in the video is the same one I recently bought but mine is all silver. I wanted a “Day Date” model and I love this one.

Great video. Just to share my experience. A completely different design that I have not seen on Google or youtube. Tried to remove pin and wouldn't budge. Finally when I thought I had wrecked it, out popped a tiny spring running the width of the band with little heads at both ends, this is INSIDE a nearly full length ferrule. Now I understand, it's the easiest I've ever struck to remove links. Just push the the spring head in a fraction and the link becomes free at that end. Job done.

I never leave comments, but this was super helpful! I resized a new watch I bought online and saved myself a trip to the jewelers. A couple tips I would add would be looking to see if the inside of the links have arrows - this will help you know which way the pins are meant to go out as the pins have a thicker end on one side.

I was skeptical at first. But wanted a quick way to change out my band on my new watch as the watch store is closed today and excited to use my new watch. It worked! I thought a rubber mallet would be better to use then the end of a screwdriver to bang out the pin, but the screwdriver is better as the mallet head is too large for a pinhead. Also the quarter trick worked to put back the remaining part of the pin to flush with the band. Hey Thanks!!

Thank you so much for this video. I had to use needle nose pliers to pull out the pin. It helped SO MUCH to let us know that the band had arrows on the inside of the band. I’ve never known that.
