I remember when plastic packaging was the exception rather than the rule. Everything was packaged in metal, glass, or paper packaging, and it worked just fine. It was all completely recyclable or biodegradable. So why not just GO BACK TO THAT???? I honestly don't mind paying a 5 or 10 cent deposit on a glass bottle that can be returned after usage, and get my dime back.
@mandrake9253 жыл бұрын
They do that in Germany with beer. You get a crate of beer after you return the crate with the empty bottles you get money back. My buddies and I returned 8 crates at once and walked out with 2 new crates full of beer for no cost.

The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! That he died on the cross, and was resurrected from the dead 3 days later to give us eternal life..’nz

This is a very necessary start to reducing waste everywhere, and it is not to late to make the massive changes needed to get through the hurdles ahead of the human race. If it will be worth while at all, though, we have to reduce the output of plastic, especially single use plastic by an incomprehensible amount, and with plastic being so very important to us, it will be truly Incredible if we can start to have less plastic being used in the near future.

True, all we can do is try to reduce our own single use plastic use by finding substitutes or purchasing from more sustainable brands. I’ve personally seen an increase in more eco friendly packaging becoming more popular, so I believe that if we keep demanding these sorts of things, then the supply will eventually meet up. However, true change requires government policies, because otherwise people will go for the easiest options. Which is usually plastic

I would call the city and ask if there are any orgs for it! It's possible there are already teams that do it every so often and you could join, if there isn't then you can ask if anything special is needed to pick up trash around the river.

i like how removing 30 million pounds has such minuscule impact they didn't bother showing us what it would be. This video is clickbait and completely fails to provide any concrete numbers like the title suggests it will
@artistturtle14253 ай бұрын
Yup that’s the problem, the money could have been used to fix the root of the problem but instead they remove 34 million pounds of plastic which sounds impressive but 90 million pounds of plastic enter the ocean a day, meaning not even a day’s worth of waste was removed

Absolutly. It's sad how big influencers like MrBeast and Mark Rober just lie about the numbers for clout and for recognition. What a world we live in...

2020 was truly a bad year, and then here is 2021, which has been pretty great honestly, and made even better with this whole project being set in motion. I hope one day I can look back and only remember that there was once massive trash islands in the oceans.

2 questions. 1: what are we going to do with all the plastic we collect? 2: how do we stop plastic pollution at the source instead of investing all our time into cleaning up (like bucketing water out of a sinking ship instead of fixing the hole)
@everythingmatters63083 жыл бұрын
Answers to #2: 1. Replace your polyester and nylon clothing, sheets and blankets with cotton and other natural fibers. Most of the microfiber in the oceans is from synthetic fibers coming loose in our washing machines. 2. Boycott Coke, Pepsi, and Nestle and stop buying single use items. 3. Use cloth bags at the grocery and other stores. 4. Grow some of your own food to reduce packaging. Blackberries, grapes, fall squash, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and pole green beans can be grown on a fence or trellis in a small space. Fig trees are small and prolific.

Government bodies need to restrict and even ban the sale of single-use plastics. If there’s a demand, companies will continue to get away with producing and profiting from sales of single use plastics. The invention of the refillable water bottle isn’t exactly a new concept and has rendered purchasing bottled water completely redundant, yet it continues to be a problem. People should start with that.
@emmasilver23323 жыл бұрын
@@Anonymousjoe64 the problem with that idea is that a lot of times tourists can't drink local water without getting sick. Bottled water is literally the only option in those situations. What governments need to do is put an extra tax on products packaged with plastics, and utilize the revenue to provide convenient recycling options for all of its citizens. Put a recycling bin right next to every trash can in public spaces. And put more trash cans places to make it more convenient for people to throw things away. Bolt those cans to the ground so the wind can't blow them over and spread the trash everywhere. Hire people to help empty those trash cans. Put more public drinking fountains / water bottle refillers in public spaces to encourage people to reuse their water bottles. Charge a hefty fine for every time a person is caught littering, proportional to the person's household income. Utilizing these methods will accomplish a multitude of things: 1: It will discourage people from buying products packaged with plastics. 2: It will discourage companies from using plastic as a means of packaging. 3: It will provide less excuses for people to litter. 4: It will provide less excuses for people to not recycle. 5: It will discourage people from littering so they can avoid being fined. 6: It will provide more jobs for people, jobs which require no prior experience and are not hindered by most disabilities. 7: It will encourage people to conveniently refill their water bottles. This won't solve the problem completely, but if governments will band together on this, it will go a long way.

@@MostWantedGrooves oh my lord, IT DOEANT WORK LIKE THAT. The amount you sell a investment for may be less than when you originally bought it, therefore the investor would be loosing that money. Plus, trying to get “liquidized” money even from investments you have made money off of is extremely difficult and most billionaires wouldn’t do it, because it’s a massive risk and doing it would more than likely result in the loss of MILLIONS. The sad truth is, is that most billionaires don’t care about using there wealth to help, they just care about making more and more and more and what investments and stocks that are not beneficial, they won’t buy.

My community practically runs on the waterways, we rely on the fish for food and tourism. We have a program that has high schoolers come up with something to help out local rivers.
