Bought a used JD X300 and have been trying to learn to service it. Very smart to show the workings of the deck first to more clearly understand the steps for removing the deck. Also thanks to Arnold for explaining (much more clearly than the manual) that the 3/8" ratchet was to be used without a socket attached.

The 3/8" ratchet (with no socket attached) fits perfectly in the 3/8" square hole located exactly where your linesman pliers grabbed the tension arm. Very handy since you can adjust the ratchet in either direction when removing the belt from the motor pulley.

Yes, that's it! It's so obvious after you say that and I look back at what the tension arm looks like... but man, that simply never occurred to me until now. Thank you!

One of the easiest decks to remove I've ever seen. Love it.

Thank you for doing this video, I simply needed some reassurance that it was as simple as I felt it was. Usually when things are that easy it means I missed something 😆

best video yet, especially for a lady with no lawnmower skills

My 42C JD deck has a lever to release tension on the belt,just pull it from the hook and move backward to loosen the belt for the blades,no tool required. There is another belt that goes from a deck pulley to the lower engine(PTO?)pulley that has to come off to remove the deck. Still very easy to do. If I don't need to move the machine I can just leave that front bar hanging underneath,no need to take it off as it just slips into the front hooks of the deck. 4 attache points,2 spring loaded pins without cotter keys and 2 hooks. Good video,thumbed up.

Can you over grease the bearings on the deck ?

Thank you for this video. Definitely very helpful when I installed the new belt for the blades this weekend.

Nice Video. Need to remove so I can get to the Drive Pulley's and Drive Belt above the deck. This is making my Friday day off look real good.

Maybe remove the belt from the front pulley first before releasing the deck?

I have the same mower and my belt keeps popping after after a few passes cant figure out why any ideas?
@granworks4 жыл бұрын
The belt is held under tension with that one spring -- maybe that isn't holding at the right tension?

Can you make another video about your theatre/media closet. I found it very interesting
@granworks8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I'll definitely be doing more videos in the future on my theater since there's a decent amount that still needs to be done. I have mostly just photos of the build process to date, though, and I'm not sure if anybody wants to see a theater build on KZbin in essentially a slideshow format. I suppose I could post a few videos in that format and see what kind of reception they get.

granworks thanks for responding! Your videos are very entertaining, the content quality is outstanding. I found it very interesting PVC pipe to run the wires. Very cool!

What year is the tractor

It's a 2010 model. As far as I can tell, the newest X300s still have roughly the same deck.

Wow, how could you not see where the 3/8 inch ratchet goes to grab the bar where the spring is attached?

Probably wouldn’t be wearing those shoes doing this, but i’m sure his wife said he must look good for the camera.
