I had an issue with my hub yrs ago and had to cut it off. What I did was use some tape and went around the entire hub to use the edge of the tape as a guide and cut through it with a portaband saw. I slowly worked my way around the hub until I reached the beginning of my cut. Turning the hub as I went to keep my saw at the top where I could see what I was doing. It worked like a charm and I didn't have to deal with hot parts or the risk of burning up my rig. In short, use a portable band saw if you can. Just my 2 cents worth.

That’s probably a cleaner way to do it for sure

@@wildhorses4x4 oh yes. Without a doubt. It works very well. It also allows you to reuse some of the internal parts if need be. I'm glad you were able to get yours repaired. Gotta keep the classics on the trail. 👍💯

Mitch glad to see you got it removed. Did you just replace the broken axle end or a whole new axle? I had never thought of a broken axle doing so much damage. I've seen broken u joints but never an end like that. Peace.

I ended up just replacing the broken axle end. It’s my dads first time seeing carnage like that as well
