Ideas: Before opening up a clog, shove a measuring stick in the high water to see how much the water height is. you then can see accurately how far down the level changes. Also, there are ways to measure the flow . Wouldn't it be cool to see how many gallons of improved flow you create?

You can measure how fast the water is going pretty easy. How much is flowing through at the start vs the beginning is kinda hard to calculate because you need the area the water is flowing through in order to do it corectly. Thats not easy to measure. In this video you could take the end of the culvert to do so but thats not alwas available.

After viewing your video for many years no I realize the effort that you go through to unclog these culverts and outfall structures even when the City doesn’t do take care of them. I am lucky to have a 12 inch galvanized culvert running through my backyard along with an old brick basin/ditch. The system is from 1964 and it is probably in need of replacing it. I thought it was always kind of rough around the edges, but compared to the ones in some of your older videos, I realize that there must be so many other drains out there that are waiting to be maintained. Keep up the good work.

You need a 4 tine spading fork to use on parts of the beaver damns and large culverts that have lots of small sticks and debris packed in. The tines are longer than the rake, and you can dig them in to really break up the stuff so the current carries it away. Just a thought from the garden experience. Happy unclogging!!

I have suggested you getting an asphalt rake in the past this would be the perfect job for it. While the handle is longer than what you like unlike a bow rake and asphalt rake is designed for pulling and pushing heavy material and the very narrow tang gives you a foot either end go work with a real dam breaker for sure.

So incredible and a tremendous amount of work & effort on your part to clear out not only the culvert, drain back the pond but also to clear a blockage of debris to clear the canal. You always give 100% to every job you undertake, and that's why it's so enjoyable to watch your videos and you work.
