This conifer tree had been planted too close to the fence and was starting to push the fence over! It was also starting to get a bit messy looking so we decided to remove it and will be replanting with something else.
Hope you enjoy the video and don’t forget to subscribe if you have not already. Thanks everyone 🙂👍#gardening #powertools #yardwork #chainsaw #treefelling

I watched a couple of boys taking out a similar bush ...they left the stumps about 5 feet high so they could dig around the roots and use the trunks to push and loosen them and then cut them with a hand saw so the whole thing was gone.

my side yard had the same issue. they were messy, but the birds nested in them and i didn't want to take that away from them. i am sure that they come back yearly and have nested there for years. so i just cut the bottoms and cleaned them up. there was still area on top where they can still nest but the bottom half was better after the trimming. i think we tend to not consider the wildlife when making our decisions. i live in America in the hot western region and i try and assist the wildlife here because it is so hot in summer.

Many years ago my recently deceased Father planted 5 different conifers in the front garden. Then he decided to put crushed stone down to make maintenance easier, but over the years, even with regular trimming , the conifers began to take over. So last year I decided to get rid of them. thankfully the crushed stone made the job a bit easier, I raked the stone away from the base of the conifers and went to work with a saw cutting down to soil level. The crushed stone is 5 inches thick, so I just raked it back into the holes. The end result is a much brighter front garden, and more light in the house. And all the cuttings went over the fence in the back garden into the woods to create a compost heap, which is breaking down nicely.

Garden vacuum removing debris and leaving the stones works for me with my 1990s black decker (none mulching type, leaves do not hit the fan blade - it will suck a drinks can sideways into the bag that was the advert back in the day) when used vertically the stones drop before going into the bag, best done when dry conditions.

I do wish that people who plants trees in their garden didn't plant them just at the boundary line having no thought for their neighbors for when the tree grow and hangs into their space or damages fences. If the likes of a conifer has a spread at the bottom when mature of say twelve feet please have to good grace to consider you neighbor and plant it six feet back from the boundary. This has happened to me and to be honest I cut it back on my side at the boundary line many times, as the trees grew they became lopsided and they had to get tree surgeons in to do some major cutting. Not my fault, why should I lose garden space to give my neighbor more space in their garden. Just a thought.

Oh good lord is hardly a tree for miles and you're going to cut the only one down that Shields them from the road dirt!! I will never understand people. It was a beautiful tree and if it was in my yard you wouldn't be touching it. I know other people are going to be mad because I said it there I said it. I can't wait to see the dirt in her house after a few months from all that traffic. I would have moved the little tree before I would have gotten rid of the big one. And if you know anything about trees it would likely take another 50 years to get anywhere near the house, not like it has legs

Arborvitae grow fast - 3 feet/year - and are inexpensive and common. This one was poorly located - too big for the site.

Well what a shame. Handsome conifer. You could have suggested exposing lower branches and shaping the top. And it would have been easier moving the acer! Garden now bare and featureless in my opinion.

It would have been too brown if I had done that! Main reason for removing it was because it was pushing the fence over! I’ll be replacing another shrub there👍
