Even the inside filter can be further opened. there are holes on the periphery of that, softly press a thin screwdriver in it, and tilt so that slight pressure is applied on the filter, then another gap will start opening up, put another screwdriver in that or even put your finger nail and twist, the upper and lower portions of the filter will separate, you will find a lot of calcium solidified in that. clean that with some cloth of metal. To reassemble, just put them together and slightly press, they will become assembled again with a click sound. It wouldn't break.

When you removed the showerhead you didn’t remove the black rubber washer with the screen you left it attached to the pipe coming out of the wall that is usually where there’s a lot of build up you should have remove that and cleaned it.
