Removing axles from a C7 Corvette (DIY)

I was removing the axles to replace my differential. I tried my best to document the process of removing the axles from my C7 Z06 since there weren't any guides or videos really available. If there are any questions or tips that maybe I missed let me know in the comments!

Many unnecessary steps here unless you want better access to the stubs. This is a 3 hour job for both axles. Do not pry on the stub with anything. Borrow a slide hammer with the wide prong from autozone. Pops out with ease. An angle head ratchet eliminates the need to remove the diffuser and exhaust. Thank you for the video.

I took mine out took off the rotor top ball joint and popped the axle out hour and a half

How did you noticed ? My car rattles when it’s not driving. It does make sound when I take sharp corner but als so when it stands stil in low rpm. When I give gas , it disappears. Can you help me ? Did your car also rattled when you stood still ?

Thank you for video. Quick question: I was told by Chevy dealer I needed to replace diff. However, only symptom is clack clack noise when steering wheel is all the way to the left or right and car is moving. Could this be an axle issue only?

I would imagine that’s an axle or suspension issue, but I could be the diff. I’d look for a second opinion elsewhere before hand. My diff didn’t show any signs before failure and when it did go, my car didn’t move at all

I didn’t have any signs of wear and tear. It went from perfectly fine to completely undriveable

Was it hard putting in the differential carrier assembly cause of the weight of it?

I have to change out the exact same part definitely going to follow your steps dealership trying to charge me $3000 just for this

Not at all. I used my low pro jack to carry most of the weight of it and just rolled it where I needed it.

One more question if you don’t mind where did you get your new axle nuts from?

All of that is not necessary. You can put one in in 30 minutes. I did that.
