Thank you for making this, I just left my curling iron on and forgot to put the metal thing up to keep it from hitting the countertop and now I have the same burn mark. Will need to buy some Sos tomorrow and get to work.

Update: the granite was so scorched that all of the mineral that it cut through to was completely black and brown, and the burn was a full circle from the pan. Used baking soda, scrubbed, toothpaste, washed off, baking soda, scrub scrub scrub, more toothpaste. Haven't rinsed it off yet but it's ready virtually gone! YOU SAVED ME LIFE. I'm going to gaslight my mom when I see her later and tell her I have no idea what on earth she is talking about

What works better is a car headlight restoration kit. These kits have super fine grit sandpaper, up to 5,000 grit, and polishing compound. Many also have a mandrel that fits in your drill for the sanding and polishing. Works great and you can't tell a repair was even made.

I was sage cleansing and some of the ashes fell on my white table which left a burnt mark. I used a whitening toothpaste and it worked great, the burnt stain is completely gone! Thank you! :)

You should use wet / dry 400 to 600 grit paper first then use polishing compound to bring sheen back up to the original shine. the areas you worked are much duller than the original finish.

Doesn't the abrasive material leave scratches on the plastic top? Usually there's a clear gloss top coat too... I had a scentsy in the corner on the bathroom counter.. the whole counter is now yellow. Would love to try this if I know it won't harm it!

If it was me I might get some buffing compound from the auto parts store. But be careful It can be very aggressive and will start to remove a lot of material quickly.

I just moved into an apartment that has all these little yellow-brown stains on the bathroom countertop, sink and even in the bathtub. They are just the shape of cigarette filters - but I can't believe - I mean, people just leave cigarettes burning on the side of the sink? Just ew! Don't they use an ashtray? This building doesn't even allow smoking! The whole bathroom and dressing area smell like cigarette smoke. I don't even breathe through my nose when I go in there!

I can tell for sure it didn’t work one bit! On stains caused by rust yes - heat NO! I don’t know what you folks mean.. it didn’t work for me! Used bakingsoda and stealwool scrubbed and let it sit for 15 min. the stains caused by rust came off, the burning stains no! Then i wipped off the bakingsoda and applied whitening toothpaste. Let it sit for 15 min. nothing happened!! It makes sense.. on burning stains only sandpaper and paint will work!
