My sister is deaf. She wears hearing aids to hear at least a little bit. Her hearing aids caused extreme wax blockage in her ears and she would get the wax removed with candling by a doctor. So, if done properly, and with enough wax to come out, it works!

Amy Talman was it just a candle or did the dr also irrigate and use the weird vacuum?
@jessica.santillo
@jessica.santillo 7 жыл бұрын
Amy Talman Agreed. Yes they absolutely so work. My dad is a naturopathic physician and used these on me as I was growing up. They worked every single time. The only time they didn't work is if there's not enough wax in your ear to actually come out. But that's not the candles fault.
@carolynnguyen8685
@carolynnguyen8685 7 жыл бұрын
Amy Talman there's been so much research that suggests ear candling actually doesn't work. Like Tina said, there's no vacuum during this procedure and the temperature of the candle is below the temperature to melt ear wax. Also it doesn't even go deep enough to the ear canal to reach the ear wax. There's no evidence that this works and a quick google search shows this

I wear hearing aids and get my wax scraped out by a doctor. I'd say that's more natural than the candling scam.
@AnnieNailTech
@AnnieNailTech 7 жыл бұрын
Ear candling does work. You removed the ear wax from his ear before doing the candling. Alfred should have been lying on his side with the candle upright. The reason you saw the 'smoke' was because you didn't have the candle in his ear correctly. The candle needs to be a tight fit for a vacuum ... not to hurt, just to prevent smoke from coming out. Your test candle let the smoke out because there was no vacuum. I recommend trying it again but, of course, that's up to you. 😉

I'd definitely like to see them do it again with this new technique you suggested, but they actually didn't remove any wax from him before they tested the candle, ☺️she just looked with the magnifier to see if he had any

Annmarie Teta What was that powdery off white stuff in the candle? Makes me think that's there to make you think it worked. Not being rude. I'm just wondering what the purpose of it is.
@AnnieNailTech
@AnnieNailTech 7 жыл бұрын
@KatieMarie I think it was before she used the candle that Tina showed two chunks of wax. She removed that from his ear. Then I believe she candled.
@AnnieNailTech
@AnnieNailTech 7 жыл бұрын
@Kyrunya The powder is actually some residue from the paraffin and cloth. Some people think it's old yeast (candida) but it's not. There are also 3 type of candles...paraffin, herbal and beeswax. By far, the beeswax is the best.

I love these. My mom always used them on me when I had earaches. We'd use hot water bottles to soften the wax for 20 minutes and then put these in. To people that say it doesn't work, my earaches would go away during the ear candle and there'd be CHUNKS of wax at the bottom of the candle. These are mostly used for excessive amounts of ear wax and does actually work, I promise. The ones we used didn't have the filter at the bottom though, so I'm sure that had a hand in this not working well in the video.

My father has a problem with ear wax and for many years would have to go to the doctor to get it removed because the wax was thick and chunky and impossible to remove with a qtip. He tried these and there was so surprised by the results he has been using these for years with so much success. I think, like anything, it is dependent on the person and the situation of the wax buildup

I mean the science is there. It creates a slight vacuum in your ear by heating up the trapped air, which makes it less dense and will cause any lodged material to be brought up to close the gap and lessen the pressure difference. Candles work by melting the wax, bringing it up the wick and igniting it to create a steady fuel source, bringing up the wax basically makes it part of the candle and can bring it out of your ear with time or a strong enough flame. The problem is that it will never get hot enough in the ear to draw up a decent amount of wax without it hurting. I knew studying Physics would come in handy one day.

It does work. The reason why Alfred can't hear any sizzling sound is that it wasn't placed correctly. The most comfortable way for one to do this is to lay on his/her side, firmly insert the candle into the ear and let it burn. Whenever I have somewhat a clogged nose and itchy ears, I always have my ears cleaned this way and it's effective.
@aquagirlyan

geekchic Exactly! I saw a video of SASS wherein they had their ears candled by a professional and they also said that it works.
@mtamimi294
@mtamimi294 7 жыл бұрын
Leri Vlogs did the professional burn a control candle to prove it wasn't just from the candle? A lot of people swear by these "naturopathic" methods, but remember, the placebo effect works 30-40% of the time. So, 1/3 of the time, you will feel that something works just because you were told it does. Whenever methods like these are tested against controls, they are almost always shown to work as well as a placebo
@kirragail
@kirragail 7 жыл бұрын
Leri Vlogs it dosnt work. Both of them had “wax” because the powder in it melted to make it look like wax. This was fake. It is also not good to remove earwax from your ear because it is essential to protect your ear drum and other parts of your ear.
@CuteKristy179
@CuteKristy179 7 жыл бұрын
Leri Uguil Just because they claim it doesn't mean it's effective. Obviously the "professional" didn't light up another candle by itself to show that it's the same.
@CuteKristy179

Doubt it works. There's no scientific proof that this works. How can it works if it's just adding stuff inside your ear? She even showed you the control candle and it looks the damn same

I use to have horrible ear infections because my ear drum burst when I was younger and I would use those types of candles, make a whole in a plate, and put the candle in it. I would lay sideways on our couch and it would get a bunch of earwax out. It worked very well, but it was a different brand.

I think the ones you have are just used to soothe your ears. I had an ear ache and I used the same candle. You have to place it correctly in your ear canal and you will feel and hear the smoke or whatever is coming out of the candle go into your ear canal. It feels warm, kind of like when you place a hot compress on you ear when it is aching expect this is actually in the ear canal. It helped relieve some pain and discomfort from the ear ache I had.

Toxins from your ears? If you have an earache, it's from an infection which you'll need antibiotics. Or if your ears are dirty, usually a good shower with take care of that. If you have impacted wax in your ears, no candle will remove it as it gets really hard and you need special tools or a vacuum from an ear nose and throat doctor to remove it.There's plenty of YT videos showing ear doctors removing wax ad funny enough, none of them use candles.

Adrilogy genuinly interested as to how they can possibly work?? :) surely someone that small could not creat enough of a vacuum to pull out ear wax? I've been told the wax in them is simply the wax from burning the "candle" yet some people swear by it?

Phương Dương I've been scanning through the comments and these candles aren't for removing earwax, actually. They're for when you have earache to remove the toxins in your ear.

lol toxins? Sorry but an ear candle removes no toxins. If you have an infection then anti biotics is what you need

You cut it not unravel it. Best ones I get are the ones with no tip inside it. I get them at either sprouts or whole foods. They sell them for about 60¢ each. Doesn't hurt. Feels great after ! I got a bunch of friends and family on it 😊

I’ve looked at usage instructions for ear candles available in my country and they say that if you have smoke coming out of your ear it means the candle isn’t placed properly. It’s supposed to be air-tight against the ear canal in order to create a vacuum. Maybe that’s why both candles looked so similar inside, the one you used for Alfred’s ear didn’t actually suck up any wax because it wasn’t placed correctly. I say, try this again please :)

I tried once but not with a candle it was with a wax paper and it took all my wax away! And my grandparents have done it to and it works great!

I did it in China before. I was wondering if it does really work. But the procedure was super comfortable. The service people gave massages as well. I didn't feel any smoke coming out. But I don't think the residual from the ending of candle is ear wax. By the way, you don't need a small bowl to attach with candle.

I went to a beauty salon to have this ear candle years ago and a few days later I felt this terrible itch deep inside my ear (a place where I could not reach myself with a cotton bud). I went to the doctor and he told me ear candling (can) actually leave wax residue inside and that is what's making me itchy. So thats why doctors usually don't recommend ear candling. I never had that anymore since then.

I was adopted from Guatemala when i was a baby and they melt candles like the actual wax stays in your ear in all the babies ears to prevent wax and infection. But they leave them in awhile before changing them.

I have used these with great results on my family members. I usually use the ones coated in beeswax (burns cleaner), and I use a paper plate with a hole cut in it. The paraffin smokes more than the beeswax does.

It is like a "cambucho". In the north of Chile when someone were exposed to cold wind after being in a cozy place we say they have "air" and to fix it we make a "cambucho", a rolled paper that is burned on top of the naked person's back

In my country this kind of products does exist on pharmachy. It's recomended for ears pain or teeth pain (that kind of pain when hurts also the teeth but also ears that you can realize if is a teeth issue or on ears). It says this kind of pain appeares when you stay betwen an open door and a window(or two windows/2doors, in the same time, but also when your window is open and to the bottom of the door is a space untill the floor. You know what i mean? And when you use these, if the noise made of burning candle is more frequently or if the candle burns too quick, this means you have that presure wich couse the pain and sometimess really heal the issue. I've tested out on myself. If this doesnt work, then moust time is a teeth infection wich means you should go to dentist. Some people use also a cigarette for this, but i think the candlles working better.I think this should mean Alfred is healthy. :)

I have to go to the doctor OFTEN because I'm plagued with ear wax! They have to flush my ear canals out with warm water by squirting it in them with a large metal syringe looking thing. There are times when it's gotten so bad that I've gone deaf & sick from it throwing my inner ear off so much! 😕

I was trying ear candle long time ago, like 5-9years ago, it was very cheap in Indonesia, like $1. What i did to my control ear candle was putting the candle on a small glass bottle (circle lens' vial bottle). And when it finished , the bottle covered with white-wax-like-residue! Can you imagine all that white wax-y residue will covered your whole ear canal? It's not just pointless! It's actually make your ear more dirty than before!
