My 76 sits low about an inch lower other driver side....my frame is straight. So do I replace the body mounts or the front and rear springs or both?.I want the car level

Do you have a diagram of the mount locations? It would be helpful in following along when you mention mount numbers.

Positions 1-4 are on the driver side and 5-8 are on the passenger side. 1 and 5 are behind the front wheel. You have to remove a panel behind the wheel well on the bottom of the car. 2 and 6 are behind the kick panels in the passenger compartment. 3 and 7 are in front of the rear wheels. There is a small access hole in the front of the rear wheel well. You have to remove a cover that is held on with two sheet metal screws with hex bolt heads. 4 and 8 are behind the rear wheels. I hope that helps.

did you have a service manual to learn this or just poked around till you found bolts?

I do have a manual but I didn't look at it. Corvette forum is a great resource. I learned a lot there.

@@fun-cars one more question,is it worth the trouble taking body off to change engines and find out where a vibration is at at on drive train and im sure i have rust i can take care of,76 stingray
@fun-cars4 жыл бұрын
@@titusoverholt134 It certainly would be easier to change the engine with the body off. A lot of it depends on what equipment you have to remove the body or pull the engine. Most likely you can find the vibration without removing the body and depending on what is causing the vibration you might not find it by removing the body. If you tell me more about the vibration I might be able to help you find it. Does it occur all the time or intermittently? Does it change with road speed or engine speed? Do you feel it in the steering wheel or your seat? If the car sits a long time between rides it could just be flat spots on the tires from sitting. Is it a violent shaking or a mild vibration? Those are just some questions off the top of my head. If you answer them i may have more or i may give you some things to check and some tips on how to check them. I'm always willing to help. That's why I put up the channel.
