Ik im late, but sometimes gang members are the only people you have to look up to. If you don't have a father figure, but you grow up in a place where almost all of the men in your neighborhood are gang affiliated, those become your role models. Those become the people you want to be. They sort of accept you and sometimes you feel that those are your family, and you feel obligated to join. So personally I don't think him wanting to be a gang banger is sad, but its sad that no one else tried takin him on a better path.

Good job, Vice. These types of social programs need to be more known, not only for people involved in similar situations, but for the public. Gangs are not the problem, they are a symptoms of a greater issue. This goes for your story on PTSD from gang violence. Fantastic. We are all human, and we all need to recognize crime suppression and mass imprisonment are not solutions. Homeboy Industries, and many other programs are the real solutions. Not enough people know this, even political figures. Vice, you are doing good not only with regard to entertainment, but for the good of society. Good shit.
