Something I've noticed is that adding gypsum (Calcium Sulphates) and/or anhydrite to gravel arrests most plant growth. Locally to me are closed open pit mines from the 1960's which are still free of grass in 2024 except where inches to feet of clay soil were added. Away from the gypsum everything grows as normal if not better!

Doesn’t the wheel height set the height right as opposed to raising the top link? Good video. I love the TR3 as well as the SR3 for my skidsteer. I got the TR3 because I was tired of driving backwards for my very long driveway and other roads.
@BradKemp62
@BradKemp62 5 ай бұрын
I find that the wheels help with depth control or you offset each side if you were to make a crown in the driveway. The hydraulic top link controls the angle of the comb, scar fires, and floating leveling blade quickly from the cab. Once you're in the right position you won't need to mess with it unless you change what you doing. If you don't have one for your tractor you should get one. Works great on many pieces of equipment besides the TR3. You won't ever use the manual top link again. Thanks for the input.

@BradKemp62
@BradKemp62 5 ай бұрын
If that blade is what I believe a serrated edge on a bucket it may skim the surface but not get you the results your looking for. If the material is loose you may drag it and if it's too hard you won't get penetration. You can try and see. You have nothing to lose. Good luck. Thanks for watching.

How important is the hydraulic top link? Would a landscape rake do something similar?
@BradKemp62
@BradKemp62 5 ай бұрын
I think that the hydraulic top link works on many pieces of equipment. That's all I use. Great for rotary mowers, tillers, box scrapers, etc. one you have one you'll never use the manual one. The TR3 is always an adjustment game depending on what your doing so the hydraulic top link is the way to go. If your referring to a landscape rake is the one with all the tines it would scratch the surface and rip out some grass but would not have any penetration into a hard surface or and depth. It would move around loose gravel and level is where they shine. I hope I answered your questions. Thanks for watching.

Thanks. I didn’t know there were those big rippers on the front of it until I watched another one of your videos. I think I’d be a little afraid to use that on my driveway because there is landscape fabric beneath the gravel. Thanks for the video!

@Earthmover511
@Earthmover511 5 ай бұрын
could you do that with a land plane or box blade?
@johnsadler8637
@johnsadler8637 5 ай бұрын
I achieve similar results with a simple 7’ scraper blade on my tractor. I built some boxes to sit on top of the blade and put a couple hundred pounds of rocks in for enough weight to work. I need only 4 passes - 2 with blade cutting and 2 with it spun around backwards to smooth it. Maybe another up and back if too much stone is still gathered in the crown.
@BradKemp62
@BradKemp62 5 ай бұрын
I think there are a lot of variables and lots of different equipment will give you certain results. I don't know what depth you would get with a land planer. Box scrapers generally drag gravel but don't really penetrate driveways that are compacted like concrete. But both tools will move material around and kill some vegetation and level the driveway. I would try it and see if it works or not. That's why I like that TR3. It levels, tears up compacted areas, and moves material all at once . I used to use a box scraper. It just didn't perform like I wanted. Regardless, something is better than nothing.
