Thanks a ton for posting. I was half way through upgrading my inter cooler and saw these clamps and immediately headed to youtube. Yours was the first video I saw and its perfect, thanks. BTW, I had some small rubber pieces I wedged in to keep the one side open while going to the other.

Slide a thicker smaller crew driver or the cheaper way, fold a piece of cardboard enough to insert inside the clip opening to hold it in open position! Now change all those plastic piping to aluminum pipes! About $500 for all aluminum piping from turbo to intercooler to intercooler to lower and main charge pipe! + about $250 for a fatter & bigger 8" all aluminum intercooler upgrade!

Just unclip the centre bit and sit it in the ring which holds it all open more or less completely take it off but not all the way just sit it just outside the ridge

There is a special tool for opening these clamps if you want to do it the easy way.

This is not the space shuttle to require special tooling for trivial tasks as is removing damn hoses.

bmw does use cheap pipes and gaskets that get brittle in couple of years but makes them difficult to replace to feed their services. even their ceo’s said they focus on profits not sales numbers which means use cheap materials

Ion Vasiloi no worries. Something else to keep in mind even after you get the clamp off sometime the tube itself doesn’t want to come off so you have to take a flathead and carefully pry the tube off the intercooler connection.

I’m currently attempting to replace a thermostat in my Mazda CX-9 and the intercooler hose is blocking everything and I’ve been struggling for several hours with these god damn clamps. There’s a nice place in hell for everyone that thought these clamps were a good design.
