Not even sanded
@veiledallegory6 жыл бұрын
When preparing a bed to accept a bedliner, you do not sand it to the metal. You only give the bedliner a way to adhere to the paint. The best adhesion available was when the virgin metal was painted at the factory.
@wb5mgr5 жыл бұрын
If they had sanded it with either 180grit or a red scotchbrite flapwheel you would have been there all week.

Obviously the Line-X installer didn't prep your bed properly BEFORE it was sprayed. The paint surface is to be scuffed prior to spraying the Line-X. Your paint on your bed was all still glossy.
@funbro16 жыл бұрын
Obviously? It was installed by an authorized Line-X installer and it performed flawlessly for 7 years with a whole lot of abuse. Thanks for watching.

Paint looks extremely shiny. They're supposed to rough it up for adhesion. Had a truck where line x was peeling. Paint was totally glossy underneath. They must be becoming hacks at line x.

I bought a used truck with line x already done a few years ago. It was peeling off on it too. Totally shiny underneath. Needs to be scuffed up!

makes me wonder about the entire process. When I had mine done on my brand new 2021 ram about a month ago, it took them about 2 1/2 hrs from the time I dropped it off until they called to tell me it was done. I figured it would take alot more then 2 1/2 hrs to really prep the bed and do the liner correctly.
@limey91827 жыл бұрын
I worked for LineX for a few years all you have to do is put a large heater under it to warm it up and just chisel it off

If you can heat it up. Then why are they using Linex to help protect from bombs at the pentagon?🤔

Crimson Wolf That’s a different product that is made by Line-X! Line-X is just a brand name not product. They have several different products made by Line-X! The one used on the pentagon is called pax-con! Most beds are done in XS-100!

Why did you choose to remove it instead of just having it sprayed over it again? I know that it's pretty strong in a single layer but double layer would have been stronger? How much did it cost to have a new bedliner?
@funbro17 жыл бұрын
Line X would not spray over the existing bed liner not to mention the existing bed liner was damaged as explained in the video. The cost for a new bed liner was $0 because it was covered by insurance. I did ask several companies about spraying over the old and was told that would be like doing new good body work over old bad body work and in this case damaged and melted body work. Hope this answers all of your questions. Thanks for watching?

funbro1 sorry it's a 2 part question the first part is ripping it off is the easiest way and the 2 part is what makes it good bad ? Mines been that way from the first week it even comes up driving down the freeway
@funbro17 жыл бұрын
Scraping or ripping it off is the easiest way, some heat may help but make sure it is just heat, do not set it on fire. Some liners put off a toxic gas when burned. When applied prep is important, it sounds like yours was not prepped correctly. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@richardprice59787 жыл бұрын
funbro1 thanks. And that's why it's not staying on I had it professional done and was hoping for the best results for my restoration project of my 86 chevy bed it was soda blasted before applying it what is the most common reason for bad preparation? Thanks for pointing that out I'm looking for my new paint to last other 15+ years
@aaronscarlett1876 жыл бұрын
Richard Price Line-X has a life time warranty if it’s failing you should take it back to your Line-X dealer and see what can be done about it! And blasting is not recommended for removal of Line-X due to the toughness of the liner, the blasting material would just bounce off! Hope this helps!
@ThyrexxDarrigrandi8 жыл бұрын
Was the bedliner sandblasted before the use of Line-X?

the bed has not been sand blasted and it appears from the video that it wasn't prepped correctly due to how easy it is to come off
@funbro18 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the prep because I am not an authorized Line-X installer nor was I there at the time of installation. I can tell you that it was installed by an authorized Line-X dealer when the truck was new almost 10 years ago and was still in good condition considering the use it got. If it held up this good then perhaps many other liners are installed the same way and they too will be "easy" to remove. But that is not what the video is about. I can tell you that there was work done to the bed previous to removal in the way of heat/welding. Thanks for watching
@aaronscarlett1876 жыл бұрын
I work for Line-X and to my knowledge there is no dealers that sand blast the beds to prep! They are required to be scuffed/ sanded as this one is! Some dealers do sand more then others but Line-X has very strict requirements for the instillation of liners!
@Mrburger-um8by4 жыл бұрын

Piotr Tester even if there is damage below do you see how bad the top is??? Line-X took I'd say about 90-95% of the blows/damage. That's why people do it. Some truck beds have no protection at all. Or it has that plastic cover that breaks easily. From here other than the obvious dmg that truck bed looked great for how bad the top was.
