For that sticker, soaking it in any kind of oil…cooking oil for example…or petroleum jelly will melt the sticker off with no elbow grease required. Just let it sit on the spot for a few hours or overnight. Then just rub with a soft cloth and it all comes off quickly!

I just want to thank you so much for your videos, this one in particular. You gave me the knowledge and confidence to bring new life to my very favorite patent leather Coach purse that had so much color transfer that I despaired of ever using it again. With patience and a little acetone I was able to remove almost all the color transfer and staining. It’s not perfect, and some of the color is chipping off, but it looks well-loved instead of abused and I’m proud to carry it again. I appreciate you!

Hadrian you have given me the courage to get my first patent leather item (a purse) in maybe 57 years. As a child I watched my patent leather Mary Janes disintegrate before my very eyes no matter how often I wiped them down. Now I understand why that happened (salted sidewalks after snow falls).Having a "Mommie Dearest" of my very own was all I needed to convince myself never to own anything in patent leather ever again. Hi want to thank you so much... I follow your tips to restore a Coach patent leather wallet that became sticky long time ago I thought I ruined it forever after being cleaned with a leather cleaner. But thanks to your video I applied alcohol to the wallet with a clean cloth and all the stickiness is gone. It worked. Is shiny again like new.Thank you.!!!!!!!!😄👍🏻

I just thrifted a Burberry patent leather bag in mint condition other than a small transfer of some kinda sticky substance on it 😮. Gonna try acetone… wish me luck 🤞🏾

Next time try WD-40 to remove any kind of adhesives. It works miracles, although I've never tried it on leather. Good luck.

Ohhhh, yes, on some leathers that might work, but a lot of leathers would stain from the WD-40.

The main ingredient in WD-40 is Fish Oil. ;-)

That first bag has a very fine slice in it, about an inch or so long. It's right around the area where the inside pocket shows through the patent leather on the right hand side.

That is sticker glue residue for sure. You could just use soap and water and elbow grease.

I just received a nice leather bag for Christmas. My husband wrapped it in a way that scotch tape was adhered to the leather. When the tape was removed, the color under it came off. Now there's a rectangular mark of lighter color on the front of the bag. Can this be repaired? How can I do it?

Hi! If it's just a scuff mark, then it will work, but color transfer is tricky and really depends on how long the stain has been on and what type of color transfer it is

Hi Elizabeth! You can totally use good gone on patent, but I wouldn’t advise it on regular leather because it could discolor it. Usually some leather lotion and a microfiber cloth with a little elbow grease is enough to get it off.

Hi! Dye transfer is pretty hard to remove on patent leather. Have you tried rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover? I would try it on an inconspicuous part first to see how the patent reacts, but you could use a Q tip and try to gently remove it, though the longer the stain has set in the more difficult it is to remove. A lot of the time dye transfer on patent leather is permanent.

Patent leather is just leather with a plastic coating over it. You never really touch the leather with the product you use. You never really moisturize leather. It's coated. You are just "moisterizing" the plastic coating.

Exactly. You gotta moisturize that coating of plastic otherwise it’s more susceptible to cracking, color transfer, fading, etc.
