Tysm for this, I just get a new bunny and he's come COMPLETELY matted. I've spent five hours trying to get them all out

Hi Kim, that was FANTASTIC! Our beautiful boy Alvin has the most beautiful floof but unfortunately for him he gets matted on his tummy. So nice to know we can get them out by gently pulling them apart. Thanks again for making this video.

Thank you very much this video helped me with my lionhead who developed some matted clumps around his butt and tail area. I love how calm your bunny is.. mine isn't as calm but he's manageable enough lol

@@mimivang729 This video did help me a lot so definitely watch it. I'm no expert, but what worked for me is honestly having a second person to help. I had someone else trim off the mats (very carefully, go slowly) while I held my bunny against my chest. When my bunny was against my chest and relaxed I was able to gently move his leg downward so someone else could have easier access to his foot/leg/bum area. Please see if you can have someone else help you, have them watch this video too so they know more about what to do. Have the person who the bunny is most comfortable with hold them, and then just go from there. Start with what you can easily get, give the bunny a break if needed, it takes some time so be patient. The more you do it the easier it gets and the bunny gets used to it, but the first time especially can be frustrating and a learning experience. Just try to not cut the bunny's skin, don't pull out the hair. I found that cutting through the center of a hair mat then using the method in this video that showed when you kinda stretch out the mat from each side really helped. I like keeping my bunny's hair shorter now to prevent hair mats from forming in the first place, and I cut his hair all around about once a month and have had minimal issues since.

If it's really serious to the point where you have to shave or cut their fur wrap them in a towel and only allow their head and whatever your cutting out, though be careful it could really stress them out

My bunny is the same way what I do is have her on a table and like she’s just standing normally I will have someone lift her back legs up slightly as not to bend her back, hands under her feet for support, while I get down low and work on it. If I am alone I will lift one foot which is way harder but it’s all she allows.

OMGosh... THANK YOU!! My little guy hasn't gotten any mats yet (that I'm aware of!) but now I know exactly what to do if he does. Though I'm not going to expect him to be that calm about things for a while yet either! 😂
