Thank you for this video. It would have taken me hours to figure it. Now I have to drill out a bolt I broke off. This truck has been a disaster at every turn.

Hello, I am worried about something, Where does the MDS Solenoid get the oil that it Send to the MDS Lifters?

Well the oil just basically splashes up on them from the internal moving parts of the engine. I've heard that the worst thing for a hemi is to sit at idle speed. The faster the engine is moving the better the distribution of oil is. When I put mine back together I went with a high volume oil pump for just that reason. Now when I'm driving, my oil gauge needle rides on the right line in the safe area. when I'm at idle it rides right in the middle of safe. I think I said in this video that I had a rod knocking. That's actually not what the noise was. The only thing I ever found was a little bit of wear on a couple of lifters. I did delete the MDS and went with new Hellcat lifters and cam. I'm not a mechanic. Hope this helps. Sorry it took so long to reply. I just saw it.

I would spin he solenoid before trying to pull it out. It breaks the seal loose and makes it way easier

Thank you for the video. I am not looking forward to doing the challenger. #7 cylinder has a bad solenoid. I am going to replace all four.

Use brake caliper lube on the o-rings on reinstallation

So just removing the intake and unplug the solenoids and MDS will be deactivated correct? I have a 06 hemi. Thanks

No. I'm afraid there's more to it than that. You have to get a delete kit which includes a cam, lifters, plugs to replace the solenoids, all the gaskets and bolts that you need to do the job. Because you'll have to remove everything to get to the heads to take them off and everything to get to the timing cover. And you'll need a tuner to turn the MDS off. You can either buy one or have a mechanic do it for you. I'm probably forgetting something, but anyway. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Your method certainly is the go to if all else fails, however I saw a Chrysler mechanic his channel is “reignited “ showing the first thing to try is the use of I believe a sand filled hammer to hit them with. For him none of them broke but he did say he was surprised.

You can get a block of wood and with a hammer tap it carefully and they'll pop right out when you pull them out

I damaged the solenoid wells and now even with new solenoids they leak. I tried to sand down the gouges and use jb weld to fill them in then sand that smooth but I’m still not getting a good seal. Any ideas?

I'm no mechanic, but I think I would try RTV, but be careful that it doesn't get into the solenoid and mess up the functionality of it. I removed the MDS on mine and just put plugs in. That's all I've got. Sorry. Good luck

If you get a small pole and a hammer smack the top of each solenoid, you’ll be able to remove them by hand.

I had 1 and 7 out, I initially installed el cheapos so don't do that. Get the middle of the road or top. Tap method did not work. Top broke off. Ended up putting a screw in rest of it and using claw hammer to remove them. After ran fine for a day then 1414 code. Going to replace all the coils and plugs and pray. I guess 225k miles is ok.

I did a delete on mine. I just put plugs in and a new non-MDS cam and lifters. I've heard it causes problems with oiling on the ones that are turned off. Don't know if it's true, but it makes sense to me. I didn't want to deal with it. Thanks for watching. Good luck with yours.
