Spoke with some competent mechanics that used to wear the MOPAR shirts but got tired of the toxic work environment. They said to tap the top of the solenoid with a rubber mallet, it helps break the o-ring seal and keep the tops from cracking off 90% of the time. There is a $100 removal tool from MOPAR, but they never used them.

Just a quick trick that I learned on getting these out, if you place a small scrap piece of wood over the solenoid and hit it a few times with a hammer it should break the seal and allow for you to turn and remove it without it breaking off in the block. @@57LHemi do you think that’s my issue with #5? I think 5 isn’t one of the MDS cylinders. I took off intake manifold last weekend. The galley foam was completely oil soaked. Some of the spark plugs were wet with oil. Not on #5. I ordered MDS replacements. Going to check O2 sensor as well. Car is just too clean, and drives so smooth before this. Hard to get rid of it if I can’t fix.

What if it is still good? Spray it with penetrating fluid and put a little heat around it . Tap on bolt bracket to spin it it will come out

Question: I'm showing cylinder 4 6 & 7 when codes are ran how do I tell which one to replace or do I need to replace them all?
@57LHemi3 жыл бұрын
It would be best to replace them all while the intake manifold is off. S sounds like 3 of your 4 are bad. Driver side rear and both passenger side s solenoids. The driver side front will probably go on the near future. Hope that helps and good luck

That's a lot of codes, one of them is for your o2 sensors. If your not togood of a mechanic I'd shop around to get a good price

I have to replace MDS #6 on an ‘09 Chrysler 300 5.7. Should I just replace all? The Mopar MDS cost an arm and a leg. Are the Dorman MDS good?
@57LHemi Жыл бұрын
I would replace them all and the Dorman solenoids are good to use. I went with Dorman haven't and issues
