I never even thought about removing reminder marks. I just asumed they were permanent. Good stuff.
@Omnibuddy2 жыл бұрын
For a long time I did too! But they're actually surprisingly easy to remove (if you don't use super fine sand paper like I did ...but I'd rather go too slow than too fast)!
@Coojo7811 ай бұрын
If they're paperbacks you can always put them on the table saw and shave a tiny layer off. Works like a charm.

Well.... now I kinda want to try that ...FOR SCIENCE. lol
@comicscoda2 жыл бұрын
Next time you sand one, you could place two pieces of thin board on both sides (to protect the text block) and put the book in a clamp. That way you can apply a more even pressure with the sanding paper, getting the job done quicker and with better quality. For anything book-build-related, I recommend the KZbin channel DAS Bookbinding.

For sure! I though about clamping it but wanted to make this as DIY friendly as possible! I love DAS Bookbinding’s channel! That channel has some great stuff!

I’m having trouble removing a singular red sharpie remainder mark on the bottoms of some books. When I use the 320 grade sandpaper it spreads the ink further. Anyone have a work around for this?
@Omnibuddy4 ай бұрын
Oh, that sucks! Maybe try a lower grain paper to take a bit more off and then finish up with a higher grain?

I've found that using a light spritz of WD-40 on a bit of paper towel removes that sticky remnant left under the sticker instantly. If will also remove the sticker itself rubbed with WD-40 on a Q-tip or with a small square of paper towel lightly wet with WD-40 and laid on the sticker for a minute of two -- sticker scrapes right off.

For sure! I've used WD-40 before! I should have mentioned that. Great reminder!

I have had good results removing stickers from TPB's using WD-40, but I've only done it on glossy covers.
@Omnibuddy2 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard WD-40 works well too. I just worry about using it as it’s super oily and don’t want to have to work hard to try and get it all off after I’m done. Seems a bit messier. But yeah, I’ve heard it works well too!
@DevilzFan2 жыл бұрын
@@Omnibuddy yeah, I wouldn't try it on something that's not a glossy coated cover. But it cleans off really well on glossy.

@Omnibuddy2 жыл бұрын
If it’s a glossy TPB, I’d say you’re fine. Just don’t let it soak in or anything.
@benjaminmolina34562 жыл бұрын
Will it work on contact paper adhesive?
@Omnibuddy2 жыл бұрын
It usually works with most sticky adhesives. Never tried it with contact paper, though, so I can't speak for it 100%. I would venture a guess and say it probably would, though.

Great tips. I would never have come up with the sandpaper thing. I use Goo Gone so I don't have that strong smell. Well Done. Only a woman would say this but this would be better with a bandage on your thumb. 🩹

HAHA. True, a bandaid could help a bit! I think Goo Gone may even smell stronger than WD-40, though (at least to me). But both work about the same, so pick your poison/smell! lol
