This is phenomenal, and coincidentally my saxophone also has the bell keys on the other side, with that key guard. So your video even covered that! When I get my new sax I'll be using the current one to experiment and learn this :) Thank you!

Great video thanks. Will reassembling the sax require any adjustments or is it just a case of doing the disassembly in reverse ?

What is wrong with it? Is it bent? Is the screw missing?

Question about the screws used on these instruments. Do the screwdrivers fit precisely into the screw slots? Usually, screwdrivers have tapered blades and screw slots are not tapered. This causes the turning force to be on the upper end of the screw slot only. That's why screws get mangled. I noticed that gunsmiths use hollow ground screwdrivers or exact fitting screwdrivers and don't seem to leave damaged screw heads. I was just curious as to what drivers you were using. Good video.

I use the screwdrivers from Ferree's. They are tapered and the fit is not totally precise, but they usually work well. Sometimes screws get very stuck and then there are problems. When that happens, the screws can have the rough edges filed down or the screw can be replaced.

What do you call those burners that are used to heat the pads off? And where to buy them?
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop3 жыл бұрын
It is called a Blazer Torch. You can get one at Ferree's Tools. ferreestools.com

Nice video. Do you have another's video about re-installing the keys? Thx
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop5 жыл бұрын
This is the only one I have on sax keys right now. When you install the keys, you mostly put them back together the opposite of how you take them off.

What kind of pliers is that? It sounded like you said needlenose before, but then you called it something different later. Also, what's the deal with the can with the thumb tacks in it? It definitely has my curiosity piqued!
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop6 жыл бұрын
The pliers is called a round nose pliers. The tip of the pliers looks like an "8". Sometimes I call it a needle nose pliers, but I should call it a round nose pliers. A needle nose pliers has a tip that looks like an "O". The round nose pliers is better for musical instruments because it does not damage the parts as easily. Those thumb tacks are actually magnets. I keep them on the can so they do not get lost. I am used to the magnets, but I guess they would seem very unusual to other people.
