Removing Scratches from my bike using Meguiars, 2020 Honda Goldwing dct

I have exactly the same bike as you in the same colour scheme. I have about 3 or 4 minor marks in the paint, including one on the glove box lid that keeps shouting at me! As you say, the marks are not scratches as such - just like lines in the paint. I find that matte paint marks quite easily and is very difficult to repair without removing the matte effect. I read somewhere that this is because matte paint has a very rough surface at a microscopic level and so scatters reflective light in all directions, rather than just straight back at the viewer as a gloss finish does, and it is this scattering of light that creates the matte effect. This is probably why the paint marks so easily - just dragging something over the paintwork, for example like a boot heel, will flatten the microscopic rough surface and so will "scar" the paint. I am worried that using polish would also have the effect of smoothing out the microscopic rough surface of the paint and so would permanently reduce the matte effect. I'll be very interested to see if your paint will regain the original level of "matteness" after, say, a week or two. Please let us know......and happy New Year!

Hi David, I definitely will post an update if the matt color comes back or not. It might take a while since I don't ride often nowadays and therefore I don't wash the bike, but I'm hoping that couple of washes take care of it.

Nice job. I just sold my Gold Wing yesterday and I'm now shopping for a 2020/2021 Wing. I like the bagger model. Would you buy the same matte finish again? Or would you switch to the gloss after having this bike for a while? Thanks.

Please excuse me for the late reply, the bagger looks super cool with matte finish and it catches every single eye, there is not even one person to not make a good comment about it when they see it. here are some of the comments, super cool, batman bike, spaceship and many more. but you need to pay the price which is your time cleaning it. very easy to leave finger prints and all sort of scratches. now it is up to you, but I would buy the same color if its me buying again.

Flat paint is tough to get scuff marks out of. Alway in danger of polishing your flat paint to a shine. Hope you are able to get it back to matt finish . I would be interested to see how that works.
