Why didn’t you take the Torx out and remove the shifter?

How did you actually release the top? It just shows you lifting it off.

Nobody ever shows them taking the top off the shifter. Like of the 27 videos I've seen, they've all already been removed.

Seriously. I just accidentally ripped mine off... all I know is I had my thumb pressing the button, pulled, and it went into the back seat
