I like the fact that you are an amateur. One... that you have the interest and guts to take this on. And two... you show things that the "experts" assume everyone already knows. Bummer about the sketchy gas tank but it's out and you can move on. A little more rust than you expected? You're not alone with that one. Carry on!

I will show how much of an amateur I am when I start rebuilding. Anyone can take a car apart. Wait until I start welding...since I have never done it before.

Making progress. Thank you for the trim strip info on the nut at the end of the strip. I did not realize that was the case.

It is too easy to get frustrated and break the trim only to find out there was a simple nut to remove. I kept telling myself...there has to be a logical way these things are put together. Glad it helped.

i know some guys that would spend three days and 100 bucks to save that tank, but i'm with you, just get a new one and be done with it.
