Tree roots are popping up out of the ground and my grass is dying. The root competition below soil is fierce and when an 80 year old Mango tree goes up against some grass roots, the mango tree will always win.
Being impartial to grass and lawn care, I had to help the grass by cutting out the mango tree root.
With thicker roots, you may need to employ different strategies to root removal. I’m this case, I didn’t remove the entire root but rather “shaved it down” a few inches so that the grass roots could take precedence in the lawn space.
I used a carpentry technique to knock out pieces of the root to get it lower in the ground so that there would be enough soil above for the grass roots to thrive.
