Like i am with your music! ADDICTED!!! Ive went down a couple rabbit holes chasing it around. MOOOORRRRRE! Addiction is rooted in Obsession and compulsion tainted with much denial! Awareness first, acceptance second and then action!!! Im 6yrs clean from Dope, but addiction will manifest itself in a number of areas in my life, no dope involved. Sex, Music, People, Social FKN media, your acceptance!!!! MY Drug of choice: Whatever makes me feel good. So I got rid of my social media 2 yrs ago...........BEST DESICION I EVER MADE!! i found in a matter of moments it had the ability to change the way i feel. Scrolling along.....Awww john and liz just got married, that tugged at my heart strangs (im happy). OH SHIT, a meteor just hit the Smiths house, how devastating (im sad). There goes baby daddy back in jail, thats what he gets for messing with that bimbo anyway (now Im mad) OMG Tinas in town ( surprised) Can you believe john is already messing around on liz, they just got married (now im judgemental as fuck) and that was in a matter of less than 1 min. My emotions just changed 5 times, and aint none of that shit any of my damn business. FUCK How did I do it. I deactivated for 7 days and I made it..........I FKN SURVIVED so i went another 7 days, 7 more and so on. 2 years later. I realized how much I was missing by letting it consume me. Schedule time to be on it, or make a day to put it down. Make a conscious decision to not be on it at the dinner table, or in the presence of other people. Baby steps. Sucks for us, the more your away from it the less we get to experience REN!! WE FKN LOVE YOU DESPITE YOUR LACK OF SELF CONTROL!! We all have our vices

Brilliant - i love the way that you describe what it does to the emotions. and dangerous too, because then people are over reacting and at the same time numb -because it's just on the surface. Well done you ! - my social media is this; digging great music, and i msg my cousin in Ireland cuz who can afford that phone bill That's it. I lost a couple of friends because i refuse to have a phone etc. oh well.

I love it, Ren is so self aware, how to not be addicted??? that is the question now, well IDK, I am about turn 65 and I still don't know LOL, sad but true. I AM WHAT I AM. i've attempted to set my self straight or less addictive and I guess I have in some areas but not others. were all going to die one day so i'm not even sure how important it can be. IDK. anyway, I know I'm really late to this as its now 2 years ago. but it's still festinating. ANd lastly, I hope your treatment in Canada goes well and you get back to some essence or normal whatever that is for you and can get back to creating your wonderful creations of art. We all love and care for you very much. keep up the great work Ren...

Step 1. Assess the depth of the problem. Start a log of how much you're actually on your phone. Step 2. Try to reduce that time in very small increments over the course of weeks. Step 3. Fail, say fuck it and relapse. Step 4. Start back over at step 2 with a better understand that you're not perfect. Change won't be easy and it'll likely take multiple goes before you make real progress. But in time you will make progress. Thanks for your art Ren. Hope you are progressing 💜

Find something completely unrelated to music, art or creativity, throw yourself out of your comfort zone. Then make time to do it on the regular. No phone, no guitar, no mic or cameras, something that's not you. During the first lockdown my mates, who were keen fishermen invited me for a fishing trip. Now, my history with fishing is both very short and comical but I went along with it anyway. I was very surprised by the difference I felt in myself. It's not for everyone so I'm not going to try sell it - but it's what worked FOR ME and that's the main thing. Work on you. Find something that otherwise you would avoid, give it a go. What's the worse that could happen??

🤔 Great advice! Makes sense 👍...I think I am going to get a pair of roller blades. I always had those on when I was younger (I live 1 hour north of Miami, Florida and 15 min. from the beach). Music 🎶 playing, sun shining (tan, natural exercise that doesn't feel like it-->steady, healthy way to boost serotonin and dopamine re-uptake in the brain). I'm a recovering addict, and Ren and The Big Push Band have been a tremendous help🥳!!! Music has *always been a major part of Me, My mind- My Life. I'm inspired by the Band, and by Ren being so open 📖- about His personal struggles, and His Story(the first video I watched was Him acknowledging His feelings and reaching out for help, immediately I was brought to tears and started praying 🙏). Then I saw Hi Ren, Sick Boi...His MUSIC!!! Then I found His Band (BBB to Reggae and Him rapping...then His cover of Jamrock- which is My Jam! Then I found "Illest of Our Time"). Yes!!! Finally!!! I've held out for good Music 🎶 that is what I have been waiting for- The Band, and Ren separately. I LOVE IT!!!🥰🎶🎶🙌)

Tough one! A curse and a blessing being an addict searching for that dopamine hit. It's probably why you are so ripped and your music is genius. Also sounds like you have ADHD since all ADHD'ers are constantly seeking out dopamine due to our deficit of it.

Practice practice practice... Set boundaries for yourself, small at first, and work to the larger ones. Hold yourself accountable. It's very hard to do, but it is possible, if you are willing. If you have someone you trust that helps, too... To be so young, talented, self-aware, and eager for growth as you are, I can only imagine where you will be in 5, 10 years! Wish you all the best! Never give up!! 🌺

I don't use Facebook anymore, its been literally like 7 years without it and i don't miss it.I don't have any accounts on anything else but this because I like music. I have adhd Ren, so I hear you on the addict thing and I'm forever chasing dopamine which is why I had to quit drink n drugs. I have self control now I'm doing this carno diet but only because I'm in a relationship that has alternative "rules".....so my husband IS my willpower and is also my dopamine. People say you need to practice self control, I tried and failed at that. My morning dopamine hit is listening to your music. I also paint miniature boardgaming figurines when I'm on summer vacation cos too much free time leads to procrastination for me.

I've always found not paying my bill to be a great way of limiting my phone use. Less easy is to spend some time in outback Australia, where you need to climb a hill, perform a complex arm raising dance and have the wind blowing in.tje right direction to get reception, that will drop out Ai the most inopportune moments or after 5i mns Max.

I struggle exactly with the same...and what is actually helping me tackling that RIGHT NOW is....a book entitled: "The War of Art". A very easy and interesting read.... I seriously do recommend it 100%!!! Its all about resistence and how to overcome it. Anyway...what works for some doesn't necessarily works for others. But again....I struggle since I know myself with such topic. So...worth it a try I would say.... But by now probably you wont need it anymore. ;)

I know this vid is super old and maybe you will never read this : i wrapped myself up in many things on the outside, because i tried to not Look inside of me. When i finally dared to Check out the dark pit, that was inside my soul, i got better and i didn't have to flee from my self. If you are afraid to become insane you will most likely do the exact opposite, it is just an irrational fear. You need to trust yourself.. But before you can do it.. You have to be able to fully go though your innermost thoughts and face the demons. I REALLY know how hard it is..

It's been two years, and I'm not successful, but I just don't have social media besides KZbin here. I also do not drink because I have an obsessive personal. Like I watched your 'HI Ren' and I've listened to it and watched all the reactions. But you don't pick up self control it's a constant struggle of do and don't. It's hard, and so far, my only lasting win is to avoid. I can't stop drinking soda, so I don't allow it in my house. I can't keep myself at the gym every day, I make a commitment with someone, so it's them relying on me.

As a recovering addict... Having done everything under the sun, specifically meth, and since cleaned up got married, had 3 beautiful babies, and a serial addict myself, along with my husband... Do NOT beat yourself up. Fact is, self control is overrated and honestly no where near as important as people make it out to be. To an extent yes, obviously, but with addiction, and especially with those who are addicts... At first especially. Self control hasn't helped up to the point of quitting or you wouldn't be addicted. The stats are clear. For example people who exit rehab back to the same place they were living before are far more likely to return to using than those that relocate. That's how I got clean... I moved. Couldn't take my dealer with me. People are naturally lazy. You wanna eat better, don't buy Doritos. If they're in the kitchen, you have a constant battle to remain in control... And that's hell. It's also setting yourself up for failure. You have to use momentary self control to just not buy them. So when you are snacking at home it's not within reach. You're forced to make better choices. Then your behaviors become your habits. Eventually if eating well you don't crave them, or even enjoy them the same really. Prob thinking what's it got to do with the phone. Do you have mobile data? Do you have wifi at home? Maybe roll back your data if so? Put your phone on focus mode or do not disturb during the day and schedule it to turn on before bed. So you don't get all the pings and baits. Don't ever bring it to the table, and make a conscious decision if talking to somebody to set it across the room, and intentionally look them in the eyes. Enlist help from family to remind you. Make a jar that any time you pull it out to check it when in the middle of a Convo you gotta put a $1 in it. They can hold you accountable for it. When full treat them to dinner etc ... When you get home if you need to do something, place it inside a door so you don't see it. Or if you're going out and an individual with you has a phone maybe leave it home? Or if by yourself but not going far, same thing. Get creative. Work smarter not harder. There's nothing wrong with having trouble self controlling, as long as you are honest with yourself, admit it, and try to be proactive about working with what you've got at this point in time. Bloom where you are planted. It is super freeing to not have the phone. Like a whole weight off. Good luck. I know you can make it work for you!

I, like you am an addict. I'm addicted to everything. I can't drink and haven't for a lot of years. I can't do drugs because they make me feel better and I abuse the hell out of that. I guess it takes me a lot of praying and staying busy. Sometimes I find myself trying to help other addicts even if they don't want help. I have no self control. So when you find the answer please let me know. Thanks Ren

Self control is like learning to lift weights. You have to start small and slowly work up to lifting more over time. Set small challenges that will test your self control. Maybe that means 1 hour without something. Or 1 day. Then 1 week? Built it up slow and give yourself the opportunity to succeed. Love ya brother! Keep keeping it real! 🙏

Addiction...use the 5 minute rule. Tell yourself I'll stop for 5 minutes and set a timer if needs be. Then either immediately add 5 minutes when the time is up and repeat for 30 or 60 minutes then treat yourself to your addiction of choice. I do this daily for smoking. Got myself down from 25 a day to 14 a day. I refuse to smoke #15. Ultimately I need to get it down to 10 a day.

Lol there are No accidents. Dopamine Dope a Mine ! Dope I'm mean. Well, since you asked. One moment at a time. I've applied many techniques. 😊 Some more successful than others. Imagine THE light at the Top of a stair case. You don't have to see the top to take the 1st step. Conscious focus. The book of 'NOW' BREATH WORK (I prefer the word PLAY). 'The 4 Agreements' & The 5th Agreement' Say out loud & write out the Ho'opononpona prayer I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you ❤ 1st to yourself, then to others. Past present & future. If you're in a very dark place...very very dark...pit of hell...falling into the Abyss. Relax breath & hit the bottom. It's a trampoline & will catapult you back up into the light. With a new story to share. Namaste = the Spirit within me bows to the Spirit within You You are me & I am you - Just reflections of avatars in different clothes. Amen = so it IS & it IS so = creation

The solution is a two phone system. You have an iPhone or whatever for all your internetting needs, but you also have a cheap Samsung brick phone that has no internet on at all. You give your mates both numbers. And when you’re sick of the iPhone or wanting to go out without it so u can have some headspace, you leave that one at home and take the brick. You’re still fucked at home (I also addict) but at least you get more time away. Or you can leave the iPhone locked away in house somewhere if u need.
