Best Reaction to this track. I would love to hear Ren do more Police/Sting covers, literally the band I grew up with. Funny story, I grew up in a mixed racial family. My step father who was black would listen to all kinds of Reggae, Soul, R&B, Jazz, etc. So for one of his birthdays in 1983, I bought him the Police Syncronicity album. Being only 17 at the time, he glanced at it and stuck in the album rack, obviously dubious of my musical choice for a gift. One day while we were setting up a big barbecue, he told me to put his birthday album on, mainly too humor me I suspect. By the second track of the album my step father was leaning on a rake, smoking a J and just staring off in the distance. He stood there and listened to the entire first side of the album. When it was done, he came over to me and put his arm around me and said I had done good and it was one of the best albums he'd ever heard. I cherish that moment we shared and it seemed to be a defining moment in our relationship. Anyways, sorry for the Dear Diary post, but when I listen to Ren, I do wish my Step Father was still alive and able to hear his musical genius, I'm sure he'd have approved.

I was getting worried about you, lol. When it comes to singing Ren, you're my go to reactor. I knew how exceptional this performance was and that you would get it. I call it a Ren Smorgasbord. Rap, soul, funk, blues, reggae. Falsetto, chest, mixed vocal. Bass, baritone and tenor. All in one mashup.

This was another brilliant ReNtake. Just Ren doing Ren things. Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. Ren has music in his soul and pours so much soul into everything he does. Also I am noticing that even though a lot of people discovered Ren through the hip hop tracks off Sick Boi or got recommended checking him out if into hip hop, everyone seems to agree that his singing is just something extra special. Even when it’s rappers/rap lovers who love breaking down his clever bars. When our boi starts singing, he’ll make a RENegade out of (almost) anyone and everyone 🐰🕳️ I can’t wait for the next album and hearing him sing on some new original tracks. These retakes are a perfect way to keep us happy and moist down the rabbit hole while we wait though 😏

Loved your reaction. IMO this is a MASTERCLASS on how to utilise backing singers so that their blends become an integral part of the song, and not just an afterthought. Another favourite legend of mine who was skilled at this was Leonard Cohen. His backing singers were true parts of his ensembles.
