Someone else commented on another channel that Ren might be seen as a masochist (“self-destructive”) because he is releasing a track like this which is going to upset and alienate some of his fans. That’s true, but one of the main reasons for being independent is that it allows Ren the freedom to create what he wants. People are always going to get upset over something, so he might just as well be true to himself and do his own thing.

We’re getting all the drops of the tracks on his Sick Boi album coming out next month, so they’re all within the theme of this hip hop album reflecting all of what he’s gone through with his health and life. It’s uncomfortable, and it’s meant to be. I have a feeling he’s got one more hard hitting video coming before Money Game pt 3 which is the BIG ONE, with the album dripping the next day. After that, he’s pulling back from the rap genre for his next album, which should be more in line with his Big Push and Chinchilla collabs. All in all, still respect that you can appreciate his music even when it makes you uncomfortable, especially from a religious viewpoint. Happy Friday, fellas. See you on the flip side.

Most words have more than one definition or meaning. A good dictionary will list all of them. A lot of reactors are only reading the 1st entry in that list, or using poor dictionaries. A masochist derives pleasure from pain. It doesn't have to be sexual pain. For instance, some people derive pleasure from heavy exercise, extreme situations, or being frightened, without it being a sexual thing at all. Ditto people who self-harm often derive a kind of pleasure from the pain but it's rarely a sexual thing.

Well, I think your dictionary's description is not thorough. I guess you know what sadist means - a person, who receive pleasure from inflicting pain to people ( and IS NOT only sexual pleasure, it may be recognition, validation). Masochist is the opposite - receiving pleasure by inflicting pain on himself. The term masochist includes sex, but is not limited only to it. Loved your reaction, thanks :)

"I expected a split reception on masochist, I'm glad I got it I wrote the song on a day in 2021 I felt particularly bitter about living in a sick body for most my life, about anger at the greed in the music industry. Killing everything you know, even your support systems is also about rebirth, some people will have caught the Samsara line and see a man cursing the gods for the hands hes been dealt, others will see it as a track thats just being vulgar and dark for the sake of it. It's all of those things."
