The reason Ren is blowing up.. is that soooo many of us can relate to him.. and it hurts. But it’s also healing. And it connects us all. I appreciate your authenticity. Get those tears out. You’re healing. ❤

I have watched a hundred reactions to 'Hi Ren' and I feel confident in saying that this work of art connects to people more than anything I have seen from this century. Maybe real G's don't show emotions but real people do.

Honestly, that bit you said at the end had me all emotional. My childhood wasn’t great, and it took me raising my own daughters to face my demons. Therapy gets a judgmental rap, but I’ll never understand it now that I’m healing. Who the f*ck are they to judge me trying to be better and be my best self? Thank you for this reaction. 🙏🏻 And more over, thanks to Ren for putting his struggles out there in an art form we can all relate to and even heal from. ❤️

Totally ...It doesn't surprise me that it's so misunderstood at the intro but by the end of the song, or performance, you wanna hear it 50 more times! But ur right..he's amazing on every level.. He's got history ..Chalkline with Ren and Chinchilla feels like he wrote it just for me .. I absolutely fell in love with him when he was in his second band, The Big Push ...There will never be another Ren ..

"Why am I crying?" Because you're feeling a deep connection with another person, on a level you're not really used to, because of his honesty and insights (well, his amazing voice, guitar skills, poetry, composition, production and performance also help a lot in raising the emotions). Now I am one of many people feeling a connection with you, and crying with you as I watch your reaction. Crying can be a good thing. I know it's difficult as it makes it harder to se things as you're trying to watch the video and control your computer, but it's good for you deep down, and good for humanity as a whole.

don't do yourself a bad turn.. Ren's repertoire is much bigger than just this song, and most of his work deserves to be seen at least once... sure, there are several more heavy emotional hitters, but there's also stuff that is more lighthearted, and the heavy hitters are really really good too, so... give it a try. cry if you have to. tears don't hurt.

Hey, I cried when I listened to him first, and I cried more when I binged on reactions to this song, just like your one. I so loved your raw, real, and authentic reaction to this piece of art, because that's what it is. Art, when truthfully made will tug at your soul. And when you feel so raw and hurt like I do, and I suspect you do, that artistry can bring out an array of uncomfortable feelings. But that is part of the process so I'm told, and if I'm honest, I know it's true. I saw how much this song moved you, and it did the same for me. And I just want you to know that there's a random person that feels your pain, and sends you hugs.

What Ren has done with this video is to give millions of people (like me...and you) the courage and self-permission to open up about their own battles with inner demons. Demons hate light, so shedding light on them helps us to defeat them. God bless you. Stay strong!

Ren was out one day busking and heard this younger guy singing. He loved the kid's voice so much he stopped and took the time to help the kid out. Sam Tompkins (the kid) was singing without a mic, or musical accompaniment. Ren offered to plug in and accompany the kid and lent him his mic. He let Sam keep the money from that first night and their friendship was born. Their song Blind eyed went viral some time back. It's a great song, much more upbeat for you. He caught me in the feels too. If blind Eyed doesn't do it for you, his band The Big Push will. they're such a blend of genres and ska/reggae influenced.

52 year-old man here. I'm a mess. I've never suffered anything like his struggles, yet it's so relatable. I've never been so moved by any art in my entire life. This makes "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" look like a bloated rough draft. Move over "Thriller".

Out of many reactions I’ve seen to Ren, this was the realest, most genuine, rawest one. It really does hit different when you’ve been through some real shit in your life and can relate. It took me about 20 times watching it before I could do it without crying. It’s jarring to see that internal struggle laid out to see visually. Ren is a VERY versatile artist tho so I highly recommend checking out his other work. It’s not all deep and sad, they’re not all performance pieces. He raps, sings, does incredible covers with his band The Big Push too! For some happy and upbeat Ren I suggest checking out his songs “What You Want”, “Power” or “Losing It”

I have never ever seen a performer like Ren, who has the ability to draw emotion out of everyone. Not all of his stuff is so deep and emotional, I promise, but all of it has a message and story. I hope you don't banish him from your playlist altogether. He has something for everyone. If you ever need help deciding what would be 'safe' to listen to, simply ask any of his fans for a list. I would like to slap a Warning label for the Tales of Jenny and Screech for you specifically though, as it may trigger memories of domestic abuse. All the hugs..

Hi Ren has touched so many people, 8.6 million views so far. It affects most people deeply, it opens a lot of emotions and it gets people talking about mental health. Ren has had a lot of health issues both physical and mental but his music is wide ranging accross many genres. I would hate for you to miss out on experiencing his amazing singing voice, and rapping skills or his guitar playing. Try some of his lighter pieces such as "losing it (fisher rap retake)", "Power" "what you want", "right here right now (fat boy slim one shot retake)" or his live street performances busking with the band The Big Push. He has been making music for more than 10 years and his back catalogue is vast and varied. Take care of yourself.

You already are a better person! Better than yesterday and hopefully even better tomorrow. It takes a lot of strength to cry and a lot of courage to let yourself feel. At least letting myself actually feel was one of the hardest things for me. I was locked away, safe, numb, isolated, never letting the world in. Just know that, even though I don’t know you in person, I feel for you, love you and wish all the best for you and all your family. Light, Love, and Magic always!

It's a song about perseverance, in my opinion. Despite his poor health since he was 17 and thinking he was gonna die, to being so sick, he almost wished he would. Now, getting appropriate treatment and hopeful for the future. He is inspiring.

He was very sick for over ten years and i suspect that’s when he honed his talents. He's also one of the best rappers ever so check out "Losing it" and "the hunger." Really appreciate the genuine emotional response from you. I was crying along with you. This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech") that one will probably hit hard for you. Have someone to hug close by after hearing it, you'll need it. That said, You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet. The pig character represents the doctors and therapist who have essentially butchered him for years through their misdiagnosis. He literally thought he was going insane because he was told repeatedly that the pain and symptoms he was experiencing were all in his head (psychosomatic). Turns out he had Lyme's disease the whole time and it ran rampant through his system for 10 years, even to the point of causing brain damage. Ironically, if Ren hadn't gone through what he has, would he have ever made this work of art? There's no question that his suffering has shaped his music and now he's finally getting the recognition he undoubtedly deserves. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Ren is special.

There's always some way to divide us, isn't there. Anyhow - the culture where I live is similar - you're judged if you see a therapist. You're judged if you talk about what is real. I no longer care. I refuse to subscribe to the divisions imposed on us by society, and I refuse to be quiet or to "fit in". I resolve to be my imperfect but authentic self. I can see you have come to a similar place. In another life, I think we could have been good friends. Much love to you.

Believe me the stigma of going to a therapist and seeking other help (in my own case for addiction and mental illness) through places such as AA is real wherever you come from. As he says it is all about accepting sometimes the pendulum has not swung in your favour, and all you can do is embrace something outside of yourself in order to get better... Sometimes what we think of as moments of clarity are the opposite.🤗

Hi India, This song is heartfelt for a lot of people, and for so many different reasons. You brought tears to my eyes as I watched your reaction. Thank you for sharing and not editing out your own feelings; being your true self. Remember this: (You're not alone). We all share your feelings in one way or another. You're a wonderful person. Ren's other videos are not like this one, so you should check them out, he's very talented.

This was like watching with my sister. You guys would love each other. I love you. You're incredibly strong and beautiful. Putting your heart out to the world in this way is unbelievably brave and shows that you are striving to challenge yourself and grow. You are healing. You make me proud to share the planet with you. Big, big love to you. I subbed because I know that you will love so much of Ren's work and I can't wait to be here with you as you find it. Have a beautiful day.

REN really nails this concept of the eternal battle between the dark and light parts of our human psyche. That is why so many people can relate no matter the severity of our struggle, it hits right into the soul. I feel with ya sister, you are not alone in the struggle but that is of little comfort i know, we are tired but we just gotta keep dancing right? Big hugs from Sweden

Your the real deal, and you would enjoy listening to Ren, he is so connected to what life's all about! Ren resonates with many people and what their going through in life because he has lived through many setbacks in his own life! He is so musically talented, he really is a Lyrical, Miracle, Musical Genesis! He has helped many people learn to cope with their own disabilities, and gives hope that life can get better in the paths that we all walk! Listen to other Reactors listening to Ren's music and you'll see why he's trending like he is! He is like you, you speak from your heart and he sings from his heart! Take care...
