From Ren's community page post: I wrote the song on a day in 2021 I felt particularly bitter about living in a sick body for most my life, about anger at the greed in the music industry. Killing everything you know, even your support systems is also about rebirth, some people will have caught the Samsara line and see a man cursing the gods for the hands hes been dealt, others will see it as a track thats just being vulgar and dark for the sake of it. It's all of those things.

Such a banger! The anarchist in me is so psyched about this song. The metaphors are not missed. We really do need to "reevaluate" all the shit around and within us. The masochist title, according to me, refers to the fact that all that "killing" hurts like hell. It is not without sacrifice we reevaluate and change the world. Killing of our attachments to all the outdated tradition costs us relationships. it costs us pain and suffering. But to radically turn this ship around we have to figure out how to do things differently. Just my take.

THis is one of Ren's hardest ever tracks, he's not holding anything back. He explained that this was written in 2021 when he was seriously down, hating his life and hating the insane greed of the music industry. To be brief he hated everything. Obviously things have turned around massively since then but it's still a worthwhile release and I applaud him for having the guts to release it. He also explained in the premiere chat that he was probably going to lose some fans because of this track but I personally don't think so, once people know the back story it becomes much, much clearer. It's also another Ren track you could do a dance too. btw, caught up with the axe throwing short - you are a badass :)

I didn’t enjoy this song even though I am a Ren fan. I understand and appreciate the criticism and critique of western civilization and society. This just seems dark to me which may seem to be the point especially from the breadcrumbs of the trail from previous song releases which provides context. There seems to be no playfulness which also maybe the point. Ok, after watching several reactions I can see Ren is being playful with the beats, flow, cultural references, and of course word play. But REN’s choice of words in his lyrics shows how dark Ren’s dance and mental state has been. As expected Knox’s, Cliff bests, and other reactors and their analysis 🧐 on Ren’s lyrics and flow has been enlightening. This song is not something I would choose listen to on repeat often. Darkness concentrated.
