One thing I learned through this is that actually 'Shell' the oil company was named after their family company who actually did sell seashells! Which I'm inclined to believe Ren knew when he wrote it

If you would like to hear more producrion from Ren, Seven Sins will knock your socks off. This song went viral for Ren as it was turned into a meme and then was spread to the Em and Em video. Others know more, but this is where the line came from fir Hi Ren. Ren mocking himself with his own lyrics

Diamonds not rare at all. But it’s basically a cartel that markets them, keeps the supply in check, and prices high. REN’s live performance highlights this when he describes the marketing of sea shells.

Ren gave us a little history lesson in part one and here’s the economics class. It takes a very clever and flexible mind to break down a complex topic in a way that everyone can understand it. To then do it using a well known nursery rhyme? And in the form of rap? Ren is a genius.

The sea shells bit in Hi Ren I take to be his self doubt / inner critic attacking him for something he was proud of - before Hi Ren, I think Money Game 1&2 may have been something he was most proud of, so saying “you’re not even original in the thing you are most proud of, you used a nursery rhyme rather than being original”! It feels to me that barb is what really gets to his “other self” because that’s when he switches from being timid and polite to snapping back “f’ck you!”

Love the emotion in that beautiful poem at the end. Thanks for sharing that. I for one want to hear more of it. Also...great MG2 reaction. Most of Ren's official music is studio recorded with full instrumental beauty. He records, produces and engineers most of his music himself. He has a real talent for studio recording. After seeing your reaction to both versions of this piece of rens work I can't wait to see your reaction to very early ren. I love the way you see everything, because with Ren I believe you need to see everything. Unlike some artists Ren thinks of everything. From music to back melody to lyrics, video. Of course most of all to the fact his songs I maybe stupidly believe. Are his truth. His honesty and openess and not being afraid to show footage that he would deem to not be perfect. But because its not perfect it sort if makes it perfect because its real. I'm struggling to think of many artists that are happy to see you, warts and all. I love music. All types. Last year I went to concerts raging from Adam Ant - Sugababes - Coldplay (most amazing night of my life) the clash, Mike oldfield, , professor Green, madness. To name a few. Great artists, but I can't find anyone that has the multiple music, acting etc abilities he has. Anyway. I can't wait. Hurry lol

yeyyy, finally somebody mentioned the Charly Chaplin speech!!! Besides the lyrics there are so many visual references to catch, that piece is really packed... Enjoyed your reaction on this very much, also your own stuff that you added at the end. I love this artisticly-inspiring-each-other-thing going on here and I'm very curious what you think about MG III, because its very different. And btw I agree, that in some way playing the MG gives you freedom to act. I think if we play it wisely instead of avoiding or condemning it we can change it for the better. Money is also just a form of energy and we can try to change the rules of the game by f.e. choosing whom we give our money (food, electricity, banks ....). There are so many good projects and companies out there worth being supported. Lets built Utopia (little shout out to MG III). Cheerioh from Germany ❣

It's amazing to see Ren inspire other artists, as he himself is inspired by others. He's always done retakes of songs by other musicians, and lately he's been releasing new ones. Eventually, you would probably appreciate Ren's retake on "Bittersweet Symphony." I enjoy watching Brit reactors watch what Ren does with that. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to Money Game 3, but I promise you, it won't be what you're expecting. I've mentioned Ren's song "Hold On" to you before, and from some of the things you said in this video I'm sure you'll appreciate it. Thanks Thomas! Appreciate the words! I did come across the Bittersweet Symphony one a long time before I started the channel, but I may revisit it soon on here.

Superb reaction video. Especially doing the live afterwards and commenting about the different way the delivery feels. And your poem / song has the impact of Edgar Allen Poe; which is high praise from this lover of his work. Money Game 3 is an entirely different beast of a one-take (technically there's one cut) so prepare yourself with a different set of expectations. For some more musical hip-hop of by Ren, try Genesis music video and then Genesis live. This longer format fits you nicely.

Thanks Holly! I'll check those out. I am planning on doing a few more longer ones. I appreciate the comment on it. I don't know a lot about EAP. Any recommendations to check out?

@@IzzyIzenstain I think you'd like Annabelle Lee. His most famous poem is possibly The Raven. And if you'd like to hear someone say them, check out Geoff Castellucci (narrations) for several. Geoff is also a musical unicorn. He is deep bass with 5 octave range, arranges, and makes all of his own videos. He's also part of an independent and unique acapella group; VoicePlay. That's a whole other rabbithole.

Great review man. Deep and invoking thoughts. could almost see the cogs turning. Ren has a souple of whole studio albums for your listening pleasure Both are verry different in flavour.... Hell even between tracks the flavours can change dramatically. the Tracks from Freckled Angels lean towards guitar/synth based story telling with some solid and interesting ideas musically. The latest Album Is a very different take on hip hop / Rap but NOTHING anything like you have heard before. Be warned that not all songs will sit right on the first listen, but study them a bit deeper and all of a sudden the genius shines through.

Yes, part 3 soon, then you can finish reciting your song prior to recording it!! Well done. There was a link to the shell corp. in this; they began by selling shells from a Pacific island (?)) to Europeans, then they "expanded" into oil. The history buff in Ren coming out...?

First while it is fresh in my mind, Your Poetry / Art / Lyrics are really beautiful ! You should do a video of you walking alongside a canal speaking your poetry, with beautiful country side on one side of the canal and an old disused industrial site on the other side if you can find a site like that? Showing beauty and decay.... (Love and Love Lost) (That would be a good name for a song) .... The reaction video was bloody good! I watch a lot of reaction videos and Ren seems to enthuse reactors who are artist (singers, musicians etc) which is great to see. In an interview Ren did go into his political views, which i was surprised at..... It made me think that there may be a better way to govern countries / world but it probably will never happen because of the OLD MONEY GAME....... You will love Money Game 3 i think the video has won an award or two..... I know what Ren song you will like - FIRE , from his album Freckled Angels... Thanks Izzy

Thanks Barzo! I might do something like you suggested! I'll have a think about it. Love and Lost love makes me think of Shakespeare. I think he had a play called Loves Labours Lost and Loves Labours Won. One of which is missing or just legend. Something like that anyway. I'll hopefully check those others out soon!

When you start to do some of his other stuff, I think similar to me that you’ll probably like his acoustic stuff better I hate to say better because they’re just different. I mean they’re both great, but they kinda easier to understand and feel more emotion. He doesn’t write shitto Poppy that he hopes at all catch up on it like when he writes something it’s coming from a place where it means something to him and I think that’s why you find that a lot of the topics that come up over and over because he’s very passionate about them

Hear the musician not me and I’ll try to keep this comment shorter to me. It sounds like this version of the rhythm is a little faster than the last one? It could be completely wrong, but to me it just sounds a little faster. Money game three has piano in it at the beginning, quite lovely on the keys. I might say as well and then at the end it has the string instruments. The seashells line I mean that’s a famous nursery rhyme that you’re taught as a child and at least in the United States. We used to say that like first and second grade so it’s very kind of funny and super well-known. It’s like saying two people walking down the street you know or something like that it’s just sogeneric
