Intergenerational trauma, PTSD type trauma has been demonstrated as heritable and acquired when in womb, even when separated from parents at birth. And remember, Screech and Jenny would have been able to hear Stevie's violence and Violet's pain and terror from within the womb, they wouldn't have understood the words but would have heard the emotion and felt the stress/fear/freeze hormones within the last moments of Violet's life. Trauma line through Jenny and Screech from Violet, Violet from Stevie and her father, Violet also from her mother who was likely abused by Violet's father. The cycle of trauma isn't necessarily resolved by adoption, and the foster system adds its own layers of trauma.

Additional info I wasn't aware of as not from England and noticed this posted by another commenter (sorry can't find the video to reference), Violet got a welfare council flat at 16 and this is typically only provided to pregnant teens from unsafe or unstable homes, or to get them away from an assumed molester. It's very likely her father got her pregnant. This makes sense to me. Stevie calls her an f'ing slut...why you always so quiet...why you such a little liar...why you lying to me Violet...well say something Violet. He thinks she's cheated on him and slept around and gotten pregnant. Maybe in the past he had asked if he's the father, or how far along she is, and she couldn't answer and stayed silent because the trauma associated with her past abuse forced her into "freeze" Faaarrrrk

@Skittenmeow exactly. People miss the part that Jennys father is the father. Thats why Stevie calls her a lier. He probably meet her when she was a couple of months pregnant and that's why she moved out from home. Either to hide it or her father kicked her out because she was pregnant

They were adopted separately after violet died so they never knew each other. Screech killed Jenny and the police killed screech. It’s a wild ass ride man! REN’s on a whole other level. Fully independent and finally getting the recognition he deserves. Try How To Be Me next

Agree, 'How to be Me' (LIVE!) should be your next song, then 'Chalk Outlines' (LIVE!), third 'Suic!de', fourth 'For Joe" and you can't miss 'Sick Boi' kind of should have done this after 'Hi Ren' but thats okay, it's fun watching you fall down the Ren rabbit hole! When you stop to comment, rewind a couple of seconds before restarting the vidieo, you can miss very inportinat words on Ren songs, if you don't back it up a bit.

You are NOT screwed up,, you are perfect! Jenny and Screech were twins born to their mother Violet as she was dying in 2005, then 14 years later Screech unknowingly killed his twin sister. And it seems you also caught the three generations of aggressive men and quiet women, Kudos!

Even more complex and mind-blowing is they spent so much time only a street apart when they were alive (Patrick living a street away from Jenny), but it's clear this was their first real face-to-face interaction from Jenny's reaction, and Screech calling her a "Lady"

Great reaction. The 'tragedy or miracle' line that confused you has so many layers. In my opinion it's the crux of what Ren is trying to convey here. Ren states about Jenny and Violet (and implies about Screech) that their deaths were tragic, but also a longed for escape from a life of suffering, if not in the way one would hope. Birth is always a miracle, but particularly in the case of Jenny and Screech, where there was a high probability of them not even reaching birth alive. The circumstances of their birth were a tragedy, being the inheritors of such intergenerational trauma. Sadly it is incredibly difficult to break the cycle. Ren bringing the characters to us in such an empathetic way can be a way in to start that conversation. By leaving gaps for us to fill in with our imagination he encourages us to have compassion for all involved, even those who commit heinous crimes that cause so much damage. It's so difficult to walk the line of justice balanced with compassion and we constantly fall in one direction or the other.

These songs (well not violets tale) were inspired by an article on page 8 (I think?) of a London newspaper about a 14 year old boy who was fatally shot by police after stabbing a 14 year old prostitute to death in an attempted robbery. I might be wrong on a few details, but the officer was quoted as saying "so young, such a shame". Ren is fucking amazing, my favourite artist of the last decade for sure... have fun with the rest of his music.

Ren is not just a mega-talented artist and story-teller, he is also a powerful social commentator. He brings us right into the frame of the action, not as Audience members, but as Witnesses! He insists that we Care. He says; don't look away from these things, these crimes, these tragedies, they are happening all around us every day. We KNOW how innocents like Jenny Screech and Violet wind up as victims and /or perpetrators. Why aren't we doing more to stop this?

"London City 2005" The Tales of Jenny and Skreech came out in 2019. The Twins were 14 yrs old, BOTH children of the street, as she was a *Streetwalker* in high heels, exhausted from her work(@ 14) "walked these streets about a 1000 times before" The graffiti of stolen innocence/sick boi ties in as well. What is YOUR favorite genre? Ren does so much, his Rap is going to blow you away. He does all his own beats and production, btw. Sam is his cameraman and friend, Sam Tompkins is a singer he collaborates with after discovering him in the streets busking. But for a real switch-up and explanation of what he's been through with misdiagnosis for Lyme Disease and abuse by Drs(that's what the pig head is about), " Sick Boi " is highly recommended and is actually a production....Hi Ren and the Tales were both/all 4 "Live Performance One Takes"..The Camera Work is as good as the Performance! "Sick Boi" is a THUMPER with a perfect beat for the title, Enjoy!

Check out the camera work when he opens Violet's eyes -- the camera goes from blurry to in focus once her eyes are open. And yeah, essentially the twins were split up after birth. I would recommend Sick Boi next and Money Game. Sick Boi highlights his being misdiagnosed for years. Money Game is a one-take (that took them, like, 186 tries to get) and Hi Ren is also a one-take (3 tries to get). Money Game 2 is a lyric video and I recommend it, as well. Then I would branch out into some of his other styles to see his versatility. Genesis is also a one-take and is a favorite of mine. Chalk Outlines feat. Chinchilla is another one-take and Humble feat. Eden is great, too. They're all great, though, so it's so hard to choose.

@@paksenarrian This is debatable, as these lyrics imply more than physical abuse " Every night he'd tuck her tight but never left the room I'll spare you of the things he did, I'm sure her mother knew", so he probably at least raped her, besides the beatings implied in "history tends to repeat itself" line, but that does not imply that he was the father and yes the boyfriend may have been the father. The point is that part is left somewhat ambiguous. I'm leaning more towards the boyfriend being the dad, but who knows. Either way, a great song.

So Violet died so they would have been put in care and separated and didn’t know each other. Jenny took on her mother’s traits, quietly getting on with her life. Screech took on his father’s traits and because of his circumstances growing up on the streets became violent. He didn’t know Jenny was his sister when he killed her. Brilliantly written and performed by our beloved Ren. I think you should do Sick Boi next. Ren was misdiagnosed for nearly 10 years I believe and when he finally got the correct diagnosis of Lymes disease there was a lot of damage done. He has been in Canada having treatments for the damage done to his immune system and brain. He now has to stay longer so another 6 months I think but all the while his music has been blowing up and even with daily treatments he still is putting out music from his latest album coming soon. He is releasing a track a week.

Great reaction. Suggestion: Ren with his band, The Big Push and their original song “Sweet Little Lady”, except that you should play both the studio music video and then the live, single-take acoustic video back to back, that way you get a look at both his band mates and their crowd of friends. It’ll give you a sense of the scene he’s blasting out from. The two videos also showcase different talents and sounds but with the same music and lyrics. These guys are a helluva versatile lot and Ren freaking glows with them - glows hot!

Ren's fans call this style Bardcore and here's the origin story of this trilogy 🤩😁🤯. This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the police responding to a possible suspect in the murder of a girl in Sussex Gardens in Paddington - one of the capital's most notorious red light districts. It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on, without a second thought. The the lead inspector was quoted saying " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding yet another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to consider not only generational violence but to make us look at all angles of society that we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both are killed with brutal violence on the same night 14yrs later. Also, his lyrics have even more meaning when you read in-between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older saying at Patrick's door "I left this lady lying on the floor". Could it be the way she's dressed & her heavy makeup? Also why is a 14yr old girl out so late at night walking alone in a sketchy area wearing high heel shoes, walking a street that "she's walked it a thousand times before" everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason, wanting to make us think. There's no fat on the bone with Ren, every word is weighed & has meaning. Also, how can both these siblings be so cursed? Both are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both killed with brutal violence on the same night 14yrs later. Interesting how Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Whereas Screech mirrors his father Stevie in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily prone & provoked into violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children, often being shipped from one foster home to another. He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think why aren't we be doing a better job in this "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. I'm loving your reactions, they can't come out fast enough. Cheers 🥂

Other little details that you may miss on first viewing - Jenny had rosy cheeks (red), it's also assumed that she was walking the streets as a working girl (these are called "Red light districts" in the UK). In Screechs tale you can see that Ren is wearing a Blue and white jacket, he also faces the "blue lights" when he confronts the police. Red + Blue = Violet (their mothers name). The twins died one street apart, they were born and laid "side by side" after the birth - they were born side by side and died the same way without ever knowing they were siblings as they would have gone into the welfare system after Violet died giving birth and Stevie (their father) was the one who caused it. It seems Jenny inherited her mothers silent nature, where as Screech got the aggression from his father (Stevie used to beat Violet). Lastly, Ren recorded these in 2019, in Violets tale he sets the scene as it being 2005 (two zero zero five) - which at the start of Jennys tale he says that Screech is 14 years old. 2019 - 14 = 2005 where Violets tale ends. So many little details that all tie together. It's crazy!

In the year 2005, Violet gave birth to twins, Jenny and Screech. Both of the children ended up on the streets of london, and at the age of 14, Screech kills Jenny, when the song was released in 2019.

I have not read all these comments. However, I LOVE Ren! I am going to tell you how I see the story unfolding. Everyone will get something different out if it which is why Ren is no doubt the greatest storyteller (bard) I have ever experienced. This guy is super special and will keep reaching the world with every new drop. Jenny and James (Screech) were foster children at birth. Violet (the mother) died from being beat to death by Stevie (the “Little Prick”) Stevie probably went to jail for beating Violet to death. Violet died right after child birth from her injuries. This means both Jenny and James (Screech) grew up in foster homes from birth. Jenny became a prostitute at 14 (or earlier) Screech became a street thug. They had never met each other before that night. Screech had no idea he killed his sister. It’s just fantastic story telling. Ren is in beast mode. He is a gift from God.

The part that screws with thinking is the timeline. Violets tale happened first obviously but was delivered last.

Ren has many more “happier” songs, more uplifting songs, but also has some very deep and powerful message type tracks. He started at 11 or 12 years old making drum n bass beats, then is self learned on guitar by watching KZbin videos of famous guitarists. A few of my top recommendations would be: Power Chalk Outlines What you want Illest of our time Hunger Humble Love Music 1-4 Losing it Oh, and he also produces all his own music and his friend Samuel films all the music videos Then also check out The Big Push: I shot the sheriff War Pigs Praise you …and Ren with Sam Tompkins He’s basically one GIANT rabbit hole.

I hope you're enjoying the start of your Ren journey? I hope so as I think it might have been my comment on your T0P - Ode To Sleep (Reaction!!) about you not reacting to Ren yet that started this off . 😁 There are so many more tracks, of so many different genres. Have fun. 😁

I think Jenny Froze because She Saw the Resemblance in Screech before He Stabbed Her. Ren's Music is called Bardchord, it's an Old English Style of Bringing You News and Stories from Town to Town with Traveling Actors, Comedians and Musicians. If You can take it, try watching Shakespeare " A Mid Summer Nights Dream" with Jimmy Cagney. It's about a Traveling Actors Troupe

Now we know what Jenny sought her escape from. 14 years old, high heels, walking the streets at dark, living the isolated, silent life of child sexual exploitation to survive. Like her mother, her instinct was to freeze. Screech’s basic instinct is to fight, just like his father. Domination as the only tool of the powerless. It’s a damning indictment, not only of social care for children, it’s a societal lack of care. We say the words of safeguarding children, but there are too many Jenny’s, Screech’s and Violets out there. They all deserve better than a circular world of abuse and violence.

The horror of intergenerational violence in 13 minutes. Jenny not only ended up frozen and silent like her mother (while Screech wound up a murderer like his father), but when you go back to Jenny's Tale you wonder why a 14-year-old girl had been alone walking the streets (a 1,000 times), dragging her feet, wishing for sleep, and dressed up like a lady. Sent into the system at birth (mom dead & dad hopefully in jail), 14-year-old Screech was a criminal looking for scratch and sounds like Jenny was an underage prostitute. Ren's the Bard 2.0 Check out Ren busking with The Big Push - try their medley "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" to hear a different style. I'm also loving hopeful Ren right now: "Humble," "Ocean," "Power." (The first 2 feature Eden Nash).

I find myself oddly grateful that so many people are unaware of the trickle-down of violence from one generation to the next. With Violets tragic upbringing and the sometimes inevitable fall into the same hands with a different face, she dies. With her death,Stevie's most obviously going to prison, and the twins grandparents, at least on Violet's side, obviously not capable or eligible to take custody of the twins. So they are separated at Birth. This occurs when they are 14 years old. It's more than telling once you realize Jenny is 14 and walking the streets late at night in high-heeled shoes, looking to escape her life that was a fragile yet dangerous one. This story happens every day. The overwhelming numbers of people who are shocked and astonished by the picture so incredibly painted by Ren gives rise to my hope that people will be more aware, perhaps more willing to pay attention. Even anonymously, an alert, an empathetic gesture makes a difference you cannot even comprehend unless you've been on the other side. Grateful to Ren everyday. And I found your reaction so very sweet.

An interesting point about the story outside the text. Jenny and Screech were born in 2005 and died at age 14, which would be 2019. The total of fatalities from police action in the United Kingdom for that year was two. Very few British police are allowed to carry firearms and British street criminals tend to use knives, which from a casual observation of the British media, seems to lead to people getting knocked down and disarmed by cops with plastic shields

Basically they were separated at birth. Probably into the orphanage or foster homes. Jenny and screech didn't grow up together so they didn't know each other. If you think about and I'm sure you have been jenny took on the traits of her mother. Quite. And screech took the traits of his father. Angry.
