Laura is a soprano and did three penny opera you are incorrect in saying she rarely enters head voice

Sorry but you are mistaken. Laura is a prime mix voice singer and belter. This is where her voice is at it's strongest. She does numerous and pro-longed phrases effortlessly when it comes to those two forms of singing. That is the key in which it determines your voice classification and range. Entering the head voice for a brief second every once in awhile does not make someone a classical soprano. Lea Salonga is a sublime vocalist who has an incredibly staggering range. But she is still classified as a mezzo even though she has hit several high notes throughout her career. These ladies of Broadway are indisputable soprano vocalists. They thrive on the higher notes of the scale.This is their vocal essance. Audra McDonald, Victoria Clarke, Kelli O'Hara, Celia-Keenan-Bolger, Laura Benanti, Rebecca Luker, Kristen Chenoweth, Ashley Brown, Ali Ewaldt, Cicly Daniels, Elena Shaddow, Ashley Park, Elizabeth Welch, Lauren Worsham, Meghan Picerno, Raquel Suarez Groan, Kathy Voytko, and Kerstin Anderson. They may each have a different timbre. Some are more shimmery and pure while others are richly lush. Be that as it may what they all have in common is when it comes to going for those high acrobatic notes. They make it seem ridiculously easy. As a soprano should.

@@evaandelisa When I typed that comment I was referring to the actresses who are on Broadway at this very moment. I believe Sierra was doing an out of town try out of the musical Ever After in Atlanta Georgia at that time. But yes, that is correct. Ms. Boggess is a legit Light Lyric soprano suited to handling the taxing score to Phantom. And Love Never Dies for that matter. Initially my list of true classical sopranos (be they opera or musical theatre) could go on practically forever. But I figured keep the list small. Though my all time favorite soprano who has taken on the role of Christine is Lisa Vroman. Her voice is so stunning! :)
