From the first time I heard the album Prologue to this day I have a love for Annie's 5 octave voice, her performance and lets face it, she's gorgeous. The band was excellent and their live show - I saw only once in 1977 at Seton Hall Uni in Orange NJ, was dynamic, touching, amazingly orchestrated and performed. That's was music! Carpet of the Sun was played at sunrise once morning in July 2014 as my late wife's ashes were loosened to the sea....She introduced me to the band. It seemed appropriate then, and remains so.

Annie Haslam !!! . The sweet voice of the world
@bobwickes1380 Жыл бұрын
It has to be early mid 70's. Sitting five or six rows out sitting straight in front of Annie at The Capital Theatre in Passaic, NJ two miles from home. Tickets were $8.00. What a place Capitol was. Even The Stones played there.🎸
Annie Haslam has been by far one of the brightest star in the sky for over 40 years now. 5-octave voice, perfect pitch, charisma, subtliness, wit, and enormous heart-breaking repertouire- all that always reminds me of the highest rank artists of all time, like Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston. Nevertheless, hardly anybody could match Annie's originality, beauty of Her soul and modesty. Long live Annie !
@MadanRajaRock9 жыл бұрын
Well, she has been much less acknowledged and less commercially successful than those other two great singers you mentioned (and not necessarily because she is not as good, more on account of bad luck maybe). But by dint of sheer longevity, she is winning over more and more listeners. They are supposed to be touring Europe this year. It is amazing that she is still able to handle so much live singing at her age, and do it well more often than not (I presume). Long live Annie indeed.

Longtime fan of Annie Haslem, and certainly of Renaissance. In the Strawbs 50th Anniversary celebration a few years back, she sang the Sandra Denny parts from the "All Our Own Work" album. That was a real treat. I truly believe she (Annie) is one of the greatest female rock artists ever. She is also a very talented artist with the paints.

I first saw Renaissance live at the old Orpheum Theater in Boston and was blown away by Annie Hasslam's haunting, melodious voice. That was sometime around 77or 78. I became hooked and built up a collection of their albums, just to hear her fantastic voice. No other female vocalist comes even close, except for Celine Dion at a distant second.
