Mine definitely wasn't wasted (but also wasn't the only one I pursued, and I didn't have to go into debt at all to get it) Among other things, when I worked facilitating creative arts and science classes in a supportive therapy for adults living with mental illness for over a decade, I was able to really engage and entertain people for a whole afternoon by just helping them observe and digest a painting. I mean, just explaining what birds, birdcages and eggs mean in Northern Renaissance paintings will reveal unlimited Lifetime movie scenarios in oil! That will help anyone forget their troubles for a few hours 😂 and it enabled people, many of whom could never graduate high school due to a first psychotic break, To enrich themselves and become more cultured and be able to feel pride at knowing something about fine art that most people don't know.

I love this show! I so enjoyed my art history class in college years ago. My Dad once suggested I take my classmate, who'd never been to a museum!!, to see the Courbet piece on display "Origin of the World." I took her around (stopped her from touching a tapestry on the way, really a newbie) over to see the Origin. A group of middle schoolers were there--staring. We come round and I see my Dad's Swedish humor, again. He LOVES to tease people even if he never gets to see the results. He seemed to particularly enjoy teasing me--the baby. My art loving parents (mom and aunt painted/sculpted nudes and hung in my house) had three girls in a blue-collar neighborhood--all judgmental prudes. Sending me to Courbet was his hillarious joke plus the newbie added a plus factor of mirth. Ah Dad, love him; gonna call him now. Thanks Hannah. Keep these coming!
