And I feel guilty learning this free stuff online and in my country, stuff like this exist for paid seminars. A big thank you!

First of all, big thanks to RP and Dr Mike for putting out quality information on the internet consistently for years and for free! This channel has been an invaluable educational resource for me and many others out there on our way of attaining our goal physiques! Now, some first impressions feedback on the app: 1. The emails arrive in the spam folder, I would have missed my beta invite if I hadn't been lucky enough to check the comments. 2. Somewhat disappointed with the app itself. Its a progressive web app, which requires an internet connection to work. As someone who trains in a basement gym with horrible/non-existent connection (and I like it that way, prevents me from scrolling Instagram instead of focusing on the training process, lol), this is a MAJOR downside. I wonder if I'll be able to find a workaround to this outside of walking up to the entrance after each set to log my weights/reps :D There are ways to make native mobile apps work cross-platform and sync with a web version/website, they are just more costly to develop and maintain compared to simply packaging a website in an app. 3. The workout logger seems very bare-bones and counter-intuitive in many instances. E.g. it took me a while to figure out how to log the number of reps performed - the UI is designed in a way that suggests the box next to the weight is for RIR and creates an expectation that there should be a separate input field/box for the number of actual reps performed (when in facts it's the same box, wich creates problems of its own, like the RIR value no longer being visible after the number of performed reps has been selected) 4. I appreciate that the templates are highly customizable, however the meso creation flow has some glaring issues. Selecting a template gives you an empty sheet with muscle groups and no exercise. The option to auto-fill the exercises in hidden away in an undiscoverable dropdown menu. This isn't an issue for an intermediate/advanced lifter with a somewhat decent understanding of programming, but can be baffling for a newbie. 5. There is no upfront information given about the number of sets or progression scheme(s) that are going to be used for the meso. If I hadn't watched all of Dr Mike's videos and hadn't been familiar with RP's approach/programming philosophy, I'd be extremely confused about what's coming next after creating my 1st meso. 6. Overall the product feels rushed and leaves an impression of speed and cost-cutting being prioritisied over good user experience. In my books its a no-go for a premium subscription service that costs about $25 a month. I can't begrudge Dr Mike his Lambo, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed. Even though my first impression has been somewhat underwhelming, I have decided not to refund my purchase or cancel my subscription yet. I'm planning to give it an honest try in June (starting next week) and see how it goes, looking forward to upcoming updates and the pain points I've identified being addressed.

Consider making a long form video discussing how to get the most out of the app in great detail. I’ve been using the JuggernautAI app for a few years and thought the RP app would more or less be a better version of that as your descriptions made it sound more robust and responsive. However, my initial impression of the RP app does not match up at all. I’m hoping it’s just user error on my part. Also, finding the exercise if it’s a compound movement you want is kind of a pain. Say you want to program back raises, is that flutes, hamstrings, or erectors? Really it’s all of the above with an emphasis dependent on the specific technique and weaknesses/strengths of the lifter; however, irrespective of the lifter’s intentions, they’ll have to search each possible body part category until they find it lest they create their own variants for each category. Sure we could do the latter, but it seems to be less user friendly and intuitive than the $250 discounted annual price might suggest. The same thing applies to squats, deads, etc. Further, I didn’t see any pause variations in the app by default. It’s possible I missed them, but I did spend some time looking.

Purchased for now, hopefully it gets improved soon as it's pretty barebones atm and isn't actually an app. I thought the preset meso cycles would have some plans baked in but they're just empty templates that aren't much use. Hopefully the ai periodization makes up for the lack of other features but for $25 a month I guess I was expecting more. Gonna give it a good test over the next 4 weeks and see how it goes though.

@@slayerinfernoI also paid monthly. As far as a workout tracker, I feel like it still has a long way to go. Especially when you compare it to something like strong. A lot more features, more exercises, better ux. Where this app shines though (if it works) is the weekly progression features. The ability for me to plug in this week's sets, reps, and RIR. And it auto calculating what I should hit for the next week is the main selling point for me. Right now, i track the workouts in something like strong and rely on a Google sheet to do what the app does. So this is more convenient. Although, i would hope that within the next 3 months, they roll out better features and UX

I just bought the app. It still needs some work to he worth it: there is no support for smartwaches, it doesn't sync with Google health connect, or the Apple equivalent, or MyFitnessPal, etc. it's not intuitive enough, it doesn't explain why it chooses the excercises it does. For $25/month I do expect the app to do a whole lot more. And if it does, and we just don't see it, please describe it better.

It’s a real shame it’s not an app and an internet connection is needed. For those that want to know, it’s basically just all the Custom Templates for 2-6 days a week and then you can make your own. It seems like it’s basically just that but wrapped up in an RP skin etc. it looks good etc but I think I’m getting buyers regret after buying it and seeing what it actually is. Not sure what I was expecting though. Maybe it’s the price that’s making me think/feel this.

Hey man, thanks for commenting. I'd like to give some insight on some of your points: 1.) It's totally an app. It's a PWA (progressive web app), which means not only does it have app functionality if you download it onto your home screen on your phone, it can also be used on any tablet, laptop, and desktop computer, which can make writing programs even faster and easier in a way that's not likely with a native app. It also lets us update the app faster, and the updates will never stop so long as we're offering the app. We have LOTS on the horizon. 2.) If you get the app, you get a revamped version of ALL of the custom templates any time you want them. Those are like $100 each to buy separately, so already it's kind of an insane deal. But... they aren't just the normal templates. Unlike the templates, you can change anything you want about these before your deploy them. You can add muscle groups and exercises as you see fit, change the order of exercises, swap muscle groups and exercises between days, and lots more. Stuff you literally could not do with the templates. 3.) Like you said, you can make your own custom training program to your own needs, but it's not just like an excel template. It fills in weights and reps for you after the first week, tracking your progress for you and setting your PR goals. It alters your volume through a completely novel and state of the art autoregulation algorithm, which makes the templates look... very outdated. Lastly, you can move exercises around, skip them, delete them, add new ones in, and nearly any other change you can think of, all of which was and is impossible with the templates. Oh and if you have to go lighter or heavier than planned, it auto-adjusts your rep goals to make sure you still PR. You can program down sets and drop sets, I'll shut up now, there's a lot more. 4.) You can also make as many programs as you want AT THE SAME TIME. Still doing your deload but want to create your next meso? You got it. Want to make 20 programs to use for your in-person personal training clients? You got it. (And yes, we ARE working on allowing you to share workouts with clients online. Don't hold your breath, but it's in the works.) 5.) Lastly, and this is as real as my real talk gets... I never once used the templates. Why the hell would I? I have all the knowledge in my head. But I used the app from day one and will continue to use it, because it does better than me about organizing my training and holding me to account to hit the PRs I need to hit. Let me know what you think! - Dr. Mike

Give it some time. I am at week 2 of a spreadsheet template meso (5 day, chest & back), so I subscribed to the app, set it up like my current meso, and plugged all my data in from last week, so started today as day 1 of week 2. The training adjustments are definitely more dynamic than the spreadsheets; you just have to get past week 1 to see it.

@1brunner699
@1brunner699 Жыл бұрын
@@taylorhillard4868 That’s tough. I am not sure what your results have been so far but let me say a few things, respectfully. Is there any chance you’ve set an unrealistic expectation of what’s achievable? Social media is loaded full of “influencers” almost all of whom are on gear. This really distorts our own self image. Always envying what someone else has. Also, as we progress our self view gets distorted and we are never as big or fit as we want to be. It’s true even with professional bodybuilders. The most important thing is to be consistent working out. Make sure you’re going close to failure and doing enough sets to stimulate growth but not so many that you’re excessively fatigued that you miss workouts or find yourself stuck lifting the same weight for weeks on end. You should be making progress in strength as you go. You may not add weight to the bar every workout but should be able to lift a little more or do an extra rep with the same weight every week or two. If not, you may not be recovering due to too much volume or not eating enough. Make sure you’re eating enough but not bulking with unlimited junk foods which cause more fat than muscle gain. How many carbs vs fats doesn’t matter as much as making sure you get enough calories and there is sufficient protein intake. Maybe you already knew this but hope this helps.
@aboveaura4817
@aboveaura4817 Жыл бұрын
Not sure what you consider a "basic physique" but if you haven't seen some kind of results after 4 years then no kind of app can save you. I too am not very pleased with the way my body looks after 3 years but even though I haven't eaten the recommended amounts of protein I still have built a decent look and respectable strength. Yes it could've been better but I still look better than 95%+ of the population I see outside every day. You might need a reality check. Keep in mind that this is not a race and that social media has completely skewed our expectations and standards.

Doc Mike, can you shed some light on what’s harder on the joints, light weight with higher reps, or heavy weight with lower reps. I saw studies conclude that light weight with higher reps is easier on the joints and tendons and even can promote healing. But saw a video with Ohearn stating that real heavy with low reps is better and higher reps wears your joints out.
