Something you omit saying about the vshred guy is that this guy is young and naturally ripped, I used to be that way not doing anything, some people are just lean and its frustrating seeing guys and girls that you can tell are naturally lean pretending being that way by training or supplements, also when you are in your 20s you should shut up and not give advices, give advices if you are lean at 50 ; I had 6packs at 35 I could have bullshitted social media about training but that’s just dishonest ; when you have a lean body type you are lean your whole life unless you really abuse bad foods…

I’m so glad this video came out. I’m so sick and tired of this guy saying to stop doing cardio and cutting carbs while trying to lose weight. I’m 51 years old and I gain weight extremely easily. I have always been active. I competed in gymnastics and played soccer for years. When I graduated high school I joined a gym and have been working out in gyms since. I hated running but had to do it because of sports. I am a lucky because one day I was running and all of a sudden while running up a hill something happened and I picked up my speed and have loved running ever since that day. I have health problems including rheumatoid arthritis so I have to be careful. I bought myself a treadmill a couple years ago and I run about 25 miles a week and walk at a fast pace on the highest incline for about 10 miles per week. When I’m running it clears my head and I feel great. I build muscle easily so I’m motivated to weight train because I will see results. When I was 19 I ate little to no fat, sugar and low calories. I saw zero results. I added protein and cut carbs and saw a huge change. I know what it takes my body to get results.

Exactly this. I have PCOS which my doctor explained to me as this. 1. If he checked my BLOOD SUGAR, I'd be fine because I'm non-diabetic. If he checked my INSULIN levels, however, they'd be through the roof. Because as someone with PCOS. I'm insulin resistant. 2. In people with PCOS, the body basically gets confused about the extra insulin. It doesn't know what it is, and for some reason assumes it's estrogen. So our bodies assume we have an excess of estrogen, which is why we're infertile. Because we basically become our own birth control. So what do those two things mean? It means if I eat a bunch of carbs, spike my blood sugar, spike my insulin WAY fucking high, then my body is going to assume I have a ton of estrogen in it and it's going to cause me to pack away fat. If I CUT CARBS... my BS stays low, my insulin stays low, which means I have "decreased estrogen," which means I can actually burn fat and lose the weight. And as I lose the weight and my hormone levels balance out, my infertility MAY line out. It's why women with PCOS get pregnant so easily after bariatric surgery a lot of times (provided there aren't other issues going on) Yeah, that Vshred guy is a moron. Test different things. You may not have a varying "body type" but you might have conditions that cause you to lose weight differently than others. If I cut calories alone, I'm getting nowhere.

Cautionary tale: I'm a nurse. Last week, a 67 year-old male friend of mine sent a screenshot of his CBC. Off the charts high RBC, HCT, HGB. My first question was "Are you on testosterone?" I LOVE both HIIT and steady state running, if you're only burning 300 calories in an hour you're not running fast enough (or you need to add in some hills/resistance.) The great thing about running is, if you get to the end and you don't think you've worked hard enough just tack on a mile or two and go harder. I find that I have trouble and usually injure myself by throwing on extra sets of weights (unless I do something like bare bar and super high reps.)

I'm 50 years old; I've been at this for over thirty years and suffered every mutation of the fitness-seeking lifestyle (including being 100 pounds overweight and having to fight back from that). I went to college. I took Bio, A&P, kinesiology. Steady state cardio works the things you don't see but very much benefit from: heart, lungs and metabolic efficiency (the ability to support sustained activity). Try to function without these abilities, or with them severely diminished (as happens with age and inactivity). When you do train this capacity, it's not as much a difference you can see, but then you look back and say, "Wow, I started out biking five miles, now I'm doing twenty-five, and I move much lighter and more free." Thank you for doing this work and bringing it to the public. You have a new subscriber.

@steelmongoose4956 While Somatotypes are not particularly scientific they DO give lay people an easily understood reference and a starting point to talk to a professional. If you were to start talking to the average gym rat about anthropometry their eyes would roll back into their heads. So like a lot of things, Doctors and researchers lump a bunch of characteristics together and give it a nice name that normies can wrap their head around. So if a person were to ask me for nutritional assistance and said "I'm an Endomorph" I can make some rough assumptions like they carry a lot of weight in their core, they may react poorly to complex carbohydrates, they should have a lipid panel and fasted blood test, ask about family history of heart disease or type 2 diabetes. Giving people tools to talk about their health is never a bad thing even if its not 100% accurate.

@@HeadCannonPrimeWhile you need to use general terms in order to discuss with other people about the body, I think it's more harmful than necessary to come up with scientific sounding terms about an unscientific subject. It's just as easy to ask if they have a lot of muscle and/or fat, and it won't create as many misconceptions. The only reasons I can see why this erroneous matter wouldn't be called out in practice by those who are knowledgeable is laziness.

If anyone is interested in a little story about weight loss: In my time at the military, we (our regiment), had a one month basic training programm. At start we had men of different sizes and weights. I was super skinny and weak there was another guy who was about 1.85 m tall and weigh about 140 kg, because he was also quite fat, like, you could see he was very chubby. Anyway, everyone had to do the same excercises, running, combat training etc. as you would expect at the military. We all ate A LOT because the training was super hard, I can't tell the amount of calories to be honest, but just imagine yourself having next to no time to eat, and put everything that is fat and full of carbohydrates etc. onto your plate, like a little mountain and basically inhaling everything of it in like a starving animal. Anyway, after that one month, I got quite shredded, still slim, bit very well defined and I made push ups with 60 pound on my back for fun with 10 repetitions (as comparison, I couldn't barely do 15 proper push ups at the start of the programme without any weight). I could do 40 push ups without weight afterwards, (remember just 1 month of training and we didn't get much time to rest, I was basically exhausted) But my gains weren't impressive at all, way more impressive was my fat buddy after that month. He lost 40 kg of weight, his fat belly nearly disappeared and he ran 10km like everyone else at a fast pace.(before he broke down after 2km!) So every fitness youtube who tells you cardio etc. is bad for weight loss, getting shredded etc. blah blah blah, it's all bullshit. I shit you not, if possible, join a military basic programm and you WILL get shredded, stronger, faster, leaner etc. Work hard and EAT a lot, anything else is bullcrap!!! Ps: One little detail: Our officier, was an active spec ops soldier who got really pissed, that he was forced to train us little shits at basic training instead of remaining at his unit. So, I'm pretty sure the training was slightly harder than the average joe training programm 😂.

That guy was still eating way less than he did before going in the program. You can't out-exercise a bad diet. As just one little example, yesterday I did a regular crossfIt workout for an hour and then did 160 burpees as part of a separate challenge. I burned 400 calories. I can easily eat 400 calories of chips or cookies in 2 minutes, annihilating that entire workout, and then I'll keep going until I've eaten 2000 calories worth of those chips or cookies, easy, in 10 minutes. And if I didn't intentionally leave it myself, I could do it again later the same day, and keep doing it every single day, no problem. The simple fact is that your formerly fluffy friend lost most all that weight because he was eating less than he had been. I apologize if that wasn't the point of your story, but it seemed like it was.

Well its def different when in a military program since you have only so many times a day you can eat and for the rest of the day you are working out. Well in the world where we are all working for a living. Thats not something anyone can do. I am a woman so my routine is different than men. But either way, none of us can work out all day. If you can work out literally all day. Then yes you probably can eat alot. Bc ur working it off & then some. When we are only limited to working out a couple hours a day, then we are limited to how much we can eat

@@laceystrattonwhitehead1199 Since I know both world perfectly well, I'm certain, that even with full time work, it's absolutely possible to get shredded, even with kids, and I that's not hear say, it's personal experience. No gym needed. Bodyweight is enough. But well, no discipline, no results. That may sound harsh, but nothing exceptional comes from just finding excuses.

That entire story is basically just proving that if you're expending more calories than you're consuming and doing resistance training, which can include cardio, then you will lose weight and build muscle lol. Yes you are eating 1000-1500 calories per meal 3x a day but you are marching, moving, and doing PT for 12-14 hours a day too. You burn through the calories from those meals in a matter of hours, leaving little to none stored in your liver so naturally your body will then rely on fat stores and muscle to burn until new calories are introduced. That is the foundation to fat loss. You are definitely creating a 500 total calorie deficit or more per day most days within that month period, so yes you will lose weight. And due to the exertion on your muscle groups you will also develop more muscle mass and get stronger as long as you are consuming enough protein.
