I'd love to hear what you have to say about the special sport supps! It's a shame you can't talk openly about it... But thank you a lot for being honest about it and also mentioning it here in this video! It would have been easy to leave out, but you took extra care to mention it not only once, but actually several times, so big thumbs up for that! P.S. A collab / Podcast with MPMD would be awesome!

So I either have to scale the shelves like Cliffhanger, or begrudgingly ask a tall person to help me. But it does have its advantages in regards to biomechanics. Less distance to travel when pulling deadlifts, shorter bench press, and squat. It's all about embracing what you got and utilizing the advantages.

Dr. Mike...I gotta say man...I've been on vacation for the past week and stumbled across your channel early into it and I've been watching every day since then. Wow...in short...this has changed my life. I've recently turned 50 and I'm absolutely loving using what I'm learning. I've started four meals per day, 40-50 grams protein each. This feels completely normal and sustainable, unlike IF and six+ meals per day. I've lowered the weights and my technique is really on point. Three count negative, two count hold in the stretch, then accelerated positive...it is unbelieveable how the muscles are worked, the joints are saved, and my mobility is up a lot. I'm doing three full body sessions each week...three sets max per bodypart...sometimes two. Each bodypart feels fried ad I'm completely spent at the end. But I feel like I'm growing like a weed...at 50! It's been a really long time since I really put all the pieces together. This is amazing and wanted to share my excitement about it. Thanks!

Dr. Mike - an american russian immigrant jewish master chef and body builder with at least a doctorate on dinosaurs and guns. A shake: a very pleasant way to cram more proteins in your regular diet when you're not well equipped to eat lots (and don't want to include too much meat a day) and may suffer from digestion issues. Personal opinion. It's amazing how big of a difference a 40g protein shake does for your daily meals and gains if you're struggling to find the balance with eating and sufficient protein towards best results you can get with your training. Do you think there are people in the business (like serious bodybuilding) that don't take "special supplements"? Of course there has to be bodybuilders who don't use them, but the interesting thing to me is where would the line go, how far behind does someone get left when they don't take those? Like where would dr. Mike be without them? I can't imagine insanely behind, but obviously there has to be a noticeable benefit to go for them. On the other hand I don't believe that they can make just anyone Arnold. I can respect the choice to go out and state on camera that you take them. That requires some guts even though it's more about weak ego to pretend you're not using something if you are, the truth doesn't change. Someone might see that as a reason to stop believing the lectures, the science behind them as well oddly enough, but in my eyes the transparency builds more trust. The foundation still needs to be right if you want to reach extra high with the additional stuff. And I'd rather have someone who takes the supplements and never lies about the important things than someone who doesn't take them, but doesn't tell you the truth about things.

196lbs, 6'0", 4 weeks into a 12 week maintenance phase, using the RP Diet App. My steps fluctuate between 10k to 23k since I work two jobs, and I'm a surveyor. Sometimes I'm in the office, some days I'm in the field. And my night job, I'm a waiter. The app is great for hitting my macros with protein and fat, and a good general idea of carbs, though I usually overeat on carbs because I'm moving so much with little shift in overall weight.

@@Adrian-to3gq I believe that is fair comment. He weighed more than Arnold when he was at his peak. You don't get to be like that through whey protein shakes.

this guy is one of the best. Amazingly informative content (both the videos and the online guides). Definitely someone, I trust and look to for advice. I wish he could more openly talk about "supplements" as I am now wondering if his training recommendation for Training Volume (MRV, MAV, MEV, etc.) are based on the assumption that you are taking "supplements" or not.
@Cwillz303
@Cwillz303 3 жыл бұрын
The training volume recommendations are pretty wide, general windows- and he’s given some pretty good guidelines on how to find *your* volume landmarks (offhand don’t remember which videos but you can probably Google it pretty easily. Long story short, use a baseline performance, ie benching 225 for 10, and add sets to your program until you notice 225 for Reps backsliding; then you know you’ve gone a bit too far. If you can maintain 225x10 or add Reps… seems like you’re doing good!), so it matters less if someone is natty or enhanced, versus if *you* are natty or enhanced while you follow the process of finding the volume landmarks.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone in fitness bringing up supplements. I love that level of honestly which is part of the reason I continue to watch the videos from rp.

Hey Dr.Mike! First off, I appreciate all your videos, and I’m slowly going through them to learn as much as possible. So, currently, I am in mass gaining phase, and I have been slowly adding calories. My question is, how do you determine when to increase? Currently I try to wait two weeks, and if I do not see an increase in weight, I’ll add 100-200 calories. Is that optimal? Or should I take a different approach? Thank you!

Ever since I started watching Dr. Mikes videos I’ve definitely started to improve. I feel fuller, longer and harder. And that’s not even at the gym! Once his videos climax… so do I. Sigh… then off to the gym for the gains. Thank you Dr. Mike! For your wisdom, sense of humor and therapeutic voice.

I’m 6’2” currently around 210-215lbs and if I eat less than 4400 calories I lose weight. To gain weight I have to go towards 5000cals. It’s a daily struggle to get in food, I try to avoid fast food generally. Also, people tell me to “F off” when I tell them how much I can eat and lose weight…
