Renaisser Raphael 530: Decent Alternative for Surface Pen & Slim Pen 2

Strong work, I greatly appreciate how you are showing the use of these products up-close and with clear comparisons. Too many tech reviewers are all "tell" and no "show". I had no idea that there were these differences in activation force or in how the tilt registers. It certainly looks like the renaisser is much less than equivalent to the slim pen 2. I'm wondering though, if you were to use a different tip and/or adjust pressure sensitivity or calibration, could the renaisser perform better?

I'm using a Surface Pro 7+. Would the Renaisser 530 Pen preform well on that too?

Maybe using a harder tip from the surface pen nib kit would improve tilt performance (H and 2H nibs)?

Thanks for the review! From all the MPP (2.0) you have tested, which one had the lowest activation force? As a very light handed user I haven't found anything that gets close to the almost 0 gramms of the Apple Pencil...

Currently Slim Pen 2 probably has the lowest activation force. But all MPP 2 pens still need more force than Apple Pencil

The line wobble with all these looks pretty poor. Is line wobble more of a problem in affinity photo compared to say photoshop?

Line tests at 02:29 were done with Medibang Paint Pro. That's hardware issue and not software

Hi, Teoh! All of your reviews are amazing. Keep on the great work. I purchased this pen for my SPX and I hate every second with it. It's terribly imprecise. I'd say some lines are traced one or two milimiters off from the point of contact. It gets worse with some angles and better with other ones. I don't know if it's the pen or MPP, but I totally regret buying that pen and not going for an official Microsoft pen. It's one of the worst purchases I've made in years, despite the fact it was only 40USD or something. Would you say Microsoft Surface Pen (Not slim 2 but the one that uses batteries) works properly on a SPX, specially for taking notes? Thanks for your reply!

Surface Pen should work well since it's designed to be used on Surface Pro

@@teohontech7141 Hey i got a question. I bought the rena back then, when i did not have the money for the microsoft pen. While writing on the surface, the lines get "bigger" and more wobbely, where the glass gets warmer because of the battery. Does the original pen have this issue too, at the warm parts of the tablet? Or is it consistently good/better than the rena? Our stores sadly have no opportunity to try pens, so it would be a "blind buy" otherwise, without knowing if it fixes what bothers me. would be happy to hear from you!

I have surface pro 7 and right side with ports doesn't hold surface pen very good also but the left side is very strong for that , so either Rena or surface pen won't hold good on the right side of the tablet

The older almost cylindrical Surface Pen may work, but performance will not match Slim Pen 2.

If you don't draw often, just get the Renaisser which is much cheaper and hence more worth the money.

Hello! I bought that pen but I have a concern about it... In the box it says it's compatible with Windows 10. This has worried me, because right now my PC keeps asking to update to Windows 11. If I updated will it stop working? My PC is a HP Envy x360
