How Suzuki Recorder students make use of their musical vocabulary to create and improvise in Musical Language
Renata Pereira - Centro Suzuki de Educação Musical, São Paulo (Brazil)
What kind of improvisation is common in the recorder player's practice? What is the first step to learn improvisation after acquiring repertoire? Making a comparison between speech and musical improvisation, we come closer to understanding how musical improvisation practice happens in the Suzuki Method's learning environment. The common characteristic in both cases is to have previous language repertoire in order to be improvised. The improvisation practice will be demonstrated through video examples of Suzuki recorder lessons, with the purpose of answer some possible questions by the audience.
