Warwick Castle (UK) is an 11th-century castle in Warwick, England (Warwickshire, more precisely). It's among the most well preserved old English castles, and there's a ton of things to do there. This vlog is part of a UK travel series: • UK Travel: What to do ...
In this video, you will see the trebuchet, the armory, the State Rooms, the views from the top of the castle and learn a little bit of the history. We even sleep in a lodge in the Knight's Village on the castle grounds!
Warwick, UK was an Anglo-Saxon 'burh' in the 9th-10th centuries, and Warwick Castle was established in 1068 during the Norman conquest of England.

My apologies to the British for mispronouncing Warwick in the entire video! 😂🤣😱😫 The funny thing is that I actually said "WaRick" various times while shooting (it's so much easier!!!), but filmed again for thinking it was wrong 😂😂😂

Don't worry about it Renata, you aren't the first and you won't be the last to do that. Where I live, in the East Midlands, there is the tale of the US Army truck driver who, driving through the area during the Second World War, when all the road signs had been removed in 1940 during the "Invasion scare", enquired of a local 'Excuse me Sir, how do I get to 'Looga Barooga?' The town's name is spelt Loughborough and pronounced 'Luff bruh". It may be an Urban Myth but the good citizens of the town now have an annual arts festival called the Loogabarooga Festival in honour of that nameless G.I.. If he ever existed that is!

If you are coming up from London by train, you can change for another platform at Leamington Spa station. There follows a lovely 30-minute train ride through countryside to Stratford. It's not a 'special', just the link between the two. My mother and I would often take this train for a day-out.

What a pity you didn't find time to visit St Mary's Parish Church. The splendid Beauchamp Chapel would have added a wonderful memory to your visit. Warwick is very much a Georgian and Victorian city having been largely destroyed by fire in the seventeenth century - but Lord Leysters Hospital is a mediaeval survivor that is worth visiting too. All told, a very nice video.

Hi Renata I have watched most of your uploads and don’t take this as a negative response, please, but when you visit certain places 1. Research that you Know the difference between a city and a county. And secondly, and this may sound very very harsh, as you make wonderful videos, I must say that… but in England particularly, pronunciation of where the local people that you’re personally showing to the world.(as an Englishman myself, can get very annoying if it is not pronounced correctly. That aside, I think your way of filming and the way you talk about places that you may or may not of visited before for the purpose of this comment are beautifully filmed and viewed. I wish you and your channel all the best in the future, and I hope you come and visit Solihull some day. P.S. ( Solihull is one of the greatest places to live in England/UK., around 5-7 miles south of Birmingham city centre. And we would all love you to visit this area. I assure you that it will not disappoint, as long as you research and find out the best sites and views of the area. God bless and good luck with your channel (I wasn’t having a go at you I was just explaining how some English people are very petty about things. Especially if it’s where they’re from) hopefully you can do more like this. Elliot B ❤️👍🏻x

I am English and the thing is though about the pronunciation of Warwick, and other similar place names like Greenwich, is that it would have been said War-wick in Old and Middle English, even into early Modern English. It is just over time the lazy English tongue has squashed it into Warrick. I have no problem with people pronouncing it correctly: War-wick. Some English can get quite pedantic about such things without actually having any historic or etymological grounds to back themselves up.
@martineyre5350
@martineyre5350 5 жыл бұрын
You can blame that on the fact that most English people gave up on the Rhotic way of pronouncing words quite a long time ago, unlike the west country Scotland Cornwall etc. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhoticity_in_English

So does that mean that Renata got a gig in UK now? I wonder if there were any Russian spies around doing sightseeing. The castle's amazing. It's interesting though how much of it really goes back to the claimed original date, since it looks so classically-medieval and was probably rebuilt and renewed a thousand times. What's lacking is a full-blown "renaissance fair" around it. How fun would that be. I don't think it's right though to be able to SELL historic heritage like this, as if it was a regular property. There's something totally crazy about that.

No gig in the UK, but close 😉. Yeah, I guess I agree about now being able to sell to private companies... who knows what they may do with it?! And yeah, the castle went through various renovations, as after each battle they perfected their defenses... And our guide also mentioned that when Madame Tussauds bought the castle, it was literally falling apart, as the owner was broke!

Hi Renata,🙎 A little fact about archers,if they where captured by the enemy In battle, they would have there fingers chopped off, then they could not fire a bow anymore,the 2 finger salute ✌ was given to the enemy to let them see and insult the enemy in battle and to let them know they could fire a long bow, that is how the 2 finger salute came about,the English army did to the French to wind them up🃏.,also every man had to practice firing a bow,it was madatory under English law, that they where profishant in that skill.🎯😋

Hi there , Renata and of course Gordon, Renata if you want to see real castles you will need to come north to my part of the world where castles are not fairy tail castles but the real Mckoy , from my house I am only minutes away from real castles were real Kings and Queens lived in were Kings were born in and dastardly deeds were committed in there name, by the way that catapult was not invented in Warwick Castile it was the Romans and the Greeks who invented it, it's called a Treviso a siege weapon that the Romans loved using, the word Ballistic comes from the Roman Ballista a projectile Roman artillery,it was a huge crossbow with power that they used if you did not pay for your 🍕🍕🍕 to the deliveryman ,he he knocked at your door,then knocked down the house. I have some news for you the snow has arrived in Minnesota last week, 🎿🎿❄❄❄❄❄⛄⛄ how cool is that ? it has come early. Anyway I digress, so what do you think of the castle ,you could ship it back to Texas and turn it into a theme castle with stocks for Gordon , and castle chair leaders doing there thing at a Texan weekend joust with bucking Bronc's in armour, and Big Mack's with plenty of hot chili sauce that your home town is famous for, what do you think of that Renata, Gordon in a tin can in the stocks and you throwing rotten eggs and fruit at him, with a prize of a 100💲 💵💵💵💵💵💸💸💸💸, by the way I liked your new tit for tat, get a metal one for castle visits and jousting parties in Texas 👑 👩👴,😹 by the way great Vlog enjoyed it ,till the next time take care.

You have the Queen Mary, and one of Londons bridge that was dismantled then reconstructed Stateside, all it takes is the will and the cash to do so, nothing is impossible, just imagination, also the science of virtual reality, so what about Stone Hendge, is there any takers and shakers out there in the market, location what about Central Park, or on the top of Trump Towers, I would go with Central Park for Rock Concerts, that would be the ultimate in getting stoned, band Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones along with the remaining old Rockers who love rock and roll, what about Gordon would he be up for some heavy rock? , keep your eyes open for a bargain, the Brexit closing down sale is about to begin 29/03/2019 you never know what we will sell, all currencies and credit cards will be excepted at the closing down sale.
