Beautiful playing both of them. I am sorry, but nobody realizes that Marta Argerich is angry? The end of 1st Mv. 6:19 waving right hand, and making comment to her self (Can anyone catch, what she said?). She plays ataca after 2nd Mv and 3rd Mv and at the end, she stands and bows even Renaud Capuçon's violin is still in the air. A very different ending like in kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKqUqIqKmbtppMU where they are lovely to each other. . I hope that I am wrong, anyone had a similar feeling. Anyway, both play great. Thank you for sharing this video, and Thumbs up.

@@highpointsights i do have a suspicion that playing with and without audience makes a HUGE difference. at least i myself feel that way. the level of excitement is far higher having the audience to share with and to communicate the music to

I personally find the louder piano to not be as problematic in this sonata as it would be in other violin sonatas-I think a lot of triumphant moments in the fourth movement especially sound underwhelming without a loud piano to fill out the sound. But then again I’m a pianist so I’m probably biased 😊

Why do you say that? It's not a mediocre level piece and he's not playing with low level musicality, phrasing, or style. Intonation is perfect and I feel like their sound blends well. Some comments say the piano is too loud at times but personally I feel like it works. Good intensity in places where it's needed.

I haven’t compared to many, but I like his better than Vengerov. (His interpretation and expression are a lot closer to Mikyung Sung, which is a good thing!)

@@karlhitos2208 I would sure like to hear all these students who supposedly play better, with much more flexible and expressive vibrato! (And for that manner, I know a "student'" pianist whose accompaniment in this piece I might personally prefer to Argerich's, no matter how sublime hers is...)
