@@harshadagashe The thing your comment immediately reveals is that you haven't ever watched another episode of The Fully Charged Show which has been going for 14 years with well over 1,000 episodes many of which have not only mentioned the issues around materials we all rely on to make the things we use, in depth, including the appalling issue of children working in copper and cobalt mines in the DRC. So let's just get a few FACTS into the discussion rather than something you read on some weird right wing pro fossil fuel forum. There are still a small number of children working in artisanal mining in the DRC, it is illegal and the authorities there have done a great deal to reduce the amount of kids working in these unsafe mines. What they dig up makes up less than 1% of global cobalt supplies. Now, today, one of the biggest consumers of cobalt is, and you will hate this but it is true, verified by multiple government and corporate research bodies, the oil industry. Your oil industry that you love and support uses cobalt in very large quantities to remove sulphur from diesel and petrol as part of the refining process. It's used to make oil slightly less toxic. The material fossil heads love to whine on and on about is used to refine OIL Have you heard of LFP batteries? No, of course not. Well, they contain NO cobalt, zero. None. They are now being used in over 50% of new electric cars, trucks, busses, vans etc. No cobalt. There are another 3 or 4 new battery chemistries being introduced commercially, NONE of them use any cobalt. There is more cobalt in the device you used to post your really boring, dated comment than in a new electric car. Cobalt is used to make stainless steel. We use a large amount of it in millions of products, none of which are electric cars. But you've been told 'say the cobalt is mined by children' and that will stop people buying electric cars. Well it isn't, it won't and bad luck sunshine, you are wrong. It's you and your oil burning pals who are using a material that is dug up by children. It's a disgrace, I hope you feel all holier than thou now, with your cobalt consuming fossil fuel that you can only use once.

Looks interesting but speaking as a Danish guy IDK if this is really gonna catch on, at least here. Like the design, many Danes would definitely use the word "tacky" to describe it, like its trying to pop and not everything in its design really works for that. Danes generally like minimalistic designs and in many cases French design sensibilities like those on the Renault 5 are complete opposites of those in foreign markets. One of the most consistently succesful cars in Denmark over the last few years have been the Renault 208 and I think the design definitely plays a part in that, even if a lot of Danes find the "Tiger tooth" lights to be tacky, its just a smaller element of an otherwise very minimalist car. Also one thing many are itching for here is an electric microcar, which has yet to hit the market around here. The closest we got was the Dacia Spring but that was taken off the Danish market after a very short time due to, and I quote, "Appalling quality", and the refreshed Dacia Spring won't be imported either as reporters have come back claiming the same issues as on the old model. Like what people want is an electric car equivalent to a Citroen C1, Peugeot 108, Kia Picanto, Suzuki Alto, VW Up! or Toyota Aygo, at a sub- £15.000 price tag and options for no infotainment or digital integration required. Simply plug and play with no software updates needed. Those are the breaking points for many consumers here. Simply put Danish consumers won't like all the extra gimmicky add-ons in this car that drive up the price and want a simple EV with no frills. Probably part of the reason why the VW eUp and Seat Mii were somewhat popular here back when they were still being sold.

What a lovely presenting style she has I really enjoyed watching that and am sure the Renault 5 is going to be a huge hit for Renault 👍

Bringing back my memories of my R5 GT turbo in blue. Total Ali G car. But this one looks awesome

If I remember right that old Renault 5 was notoriously difficult to maintain. Some car mechanics didn't want to do repairs for that at all. Now there is no engine so hopefully things are different.

I personally think it looks more like a 205 than an R5, but I absolutely love it.

Does the V2G mean that the rectifier on board is reversible (also an inverter) so that not only can the car charge at 11kW AC but it can also deliver out 11kW AC? Pure sine wave so it can run your house including sensitive electronics?

Looks like a decent little car but I’m not sure that anything that costs a minimum of £25000 can ever really be called cheap.

Fully charged, I love your videos. But stop calling unaffordable cars, affordable. Who is 26k affordable for, especially in the current climate?! I love that the prices are slowly coming down, but until I see a brand new decent electric car under 20k none of them are "affordable".

Maybe a used car is in your future then? Imagine. Two year old Renault 5 down the road. For now think Nissan Leaf.

I'm so excited for this absolutely gorgeous car. My main disappointment is the AC charging is only 11kW. My Zoe uses the full 22kW. Charging twice as fast in "slow" charging is absolutely my favourite feature of that car.

Looks like my perfect car. Plenty of fun, 4 doors for the odd time you need them. Shame there isn’t a big battery option, I often do 300+ miles over a weekend.

Rather have MG4 with more room, about the same price. This is average price, affordable would be less than $20k which should be possible.

Your decision, but MG4 is design from hell. R5 is beautiful. Stylish as a Fiat 500e

@@frankh4069 LOL we are worlds apart, I could give a @#$# about how a vehicle looks. Is it well built? roomy? efficient? Will it get me to where I need to go? I have found in my old age that ugly quirky looking cars my friends and I have owned over the years have as many fond memories and stories as sport or fancy cars. It's the experiences and journeys not the looks.

@@dailyrider2975 agree to disagree. Would never spend my money on a car when its ugly.

With a hot hatch, you fast discharge on takeoff and that damages the health of battery, I wish EV companies would install secondary battery for “turbo”, a battery that is designed to be abused but easily replaced in a couple of years while the main battery is used for the long run.

Great review - so many reviews don't point out the negatives for fear of upsetting the manufacturer and therefore not being able to review newly released models in the future. This struck a very reasonable and fair balance. It isn't my cup of tea (OK, I think it's horrible) but it seems most commenters here disagree with me: goodness knows why!

7:40 Adorable Renault logo-shaped wizard on the screen! Great car. I wonder why so many electric cars have the charge port on the driver side. The door keeps getting ripped off by passing cyclists.

Will there be a right hand drive available in Australia? Will there be any dealer support? Will there be readily available spare parts? Will there be mechanics who know how to fix them? What is the warranty on the battery? What is the likely depreciation rate? So many questions, so few answers .........

Car shows are about what the feature list is and what it looks like. No need to apologise until you have ACTUALLY driven the car. Is it a good drive. The features look good but so do plenty of EVs. I will look forward to seeing what people say after they have driven the car for a week and seen what it is really like. Hopefully it will play a significant role in encouraging more people to buy an electric vehicle.

Looks like a worthy replacement for Zoe RE50. Same 52kWh battery, bit more oomph, 4% more range, improved styling, V2L - still waiting on a UK price for 52kWh model but it won't be lower than the Zoe run-out price which was about 26k.

Throw out all the computers, the back seat, rear wiper, and the radio and you're left with a car. At 8:30 you hit the most important point. This is not a family car nor one for carpooling. Keep it simple, small, and lower range. If you do these things, you have a top seller because you can put the price where it belongs. Think Twizzy for people with brains and maybe you will build something worth paying the price for when it's new. Until then, used electrics are right in the sweet spot.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised to see Renault doing a small car, it’s something they’ve always done really well. And this is no exception. I love the subtle nods to the Gordini Turbo and it looks like it’d be a nice, comfortable car for the day to day running about. And that price point is hopefully going to spark more interest and, hopefully, a general drop in price all round. Well played, Renault!
